I've been away helping out with some family stuff but I'll be back at my next markwt THIS WEEKEND in Glenview, IL, west of Chicago for the Glenview Art League's Summer Art Fair. This is a new show for me and I'm excited to exhibit in a new part of Illinois-- hope to see you there!

Just in time for the Master Gardeners' Garden Walk tomorrow, I have new square prints of some of my favorite flower paintings - swipe to see them, or better yet, come out to the Idea Garden market tomorrow (June 20) between 9am and 4pm to see them in person! A couple of judgy birds will also be available... 🐦

I've been painting some judgy looking birds and it amuses me. Maybe this is a gateway to bird-watching? I dunno. I'm working a few more of these paintings in a little series, so more to come.

I've been having a hard time finishing anything lately -- or even sitting down to paint, honestly. I think it's a combination of reasons: general fatigue, boredom with my traditional subject matter, a less-than-stellar first market of the year, and various life distractions, among other things.

I recently stumbled across a Facebook group of free animal reference photos shared by the people who actually took said photos (no AI, thank God) and found myself wanting to paint some of them. Most of what I've done are basically sketches, but I put a little more time and effort into this one. I might eventually add a background, but for now it feels good to paint something I'm happy with, that could be considered complete as is.

I've been doing a lot of pencil sketches and drawings which will hopefully become a whole new batch of paintings for this summer's markets. Some of it's my usual kind of stuff, but some of it will be a little new and different for me, which I think my creative practice needs right now. More updates soon, hopefully. :)

BONEYARD ARTS FESTIVAL IS THIS WEEKEND 🎨🖼

Find my art at the Color and Form show at -- I'll be here today until 6om and tomorrow afternoon 1-5pm, but the exhibit space is open until 10pm both days if you want to come later. I have a few new pieces and there are 20 other artists here showing work as well.

I applied for a handful of markets today to get my 2026 started, after a much-needed break from the business part of this art business. I'm feeling ready to get back out there and connect with you all in person again over some art and I've got lots of new things in the works.

These are a couple of journals I made with my paintings -- the image wraps around the front and back cover, and it finally occurred to me that I could show both in the same image by using two journals. 😂 These will be posted in my Etsy shop soon, but you'll also be able to find them in my booths this spring! I'll share as soon as I have market app updates.
