The Ranch is what great stories are made of – the nasty villain, a good hero and a town that needed a bit of saving. The story of The Ranch starts off with one of the jewels of the South, St. After the town’s villain, Hurricane Katrina, ravaged the Parish it seemed all was lost. Nestled only 7 miles from downtown New Orleans, its people needed a glimmer of hope. Enter Jason Waggenspack, our hero w

ho is called Head of Possibilities. His vision is to not only build a state of the art film studio but to develop an ecosystem that fosters education, creativity, and economic development. At The Ranch we believe that inspiring creativity is our calling. We are passionate to see others realize their greatest imaginations. We set ourselves apart from the pack by providing exemplary customer service in state of the art facilities. We have helped revive a devastated town’s economy by providing a home for major blockbusters including Terminator Genisys and Deep Water Horizon. At the end of the day we are storytellers serving storytellers …that’s our story.

On this day in 1989, Steel Magnolias premiered in theaters and gave the world a story full of heart, humor, and unforgettable one-liners. Filmed in Natchitoches, the Louisiana-made classic put our landscapes on screen and on the map. Fans still travel from all over to visit the filming locations, walk the same streets, and see the famous house where it all happened.

A little over a week ago, Film Louisiana took to LA to show industry leaders what our state is all about, complete with a crawfish étouffée and cocktails.

Our very own Jason Waggenspack was there, meeting with producers, studios, and decision-makers to showcase what Louisiana offers as a production hub: updated incentives, unmatched locations, and a deep bench of local talent.

The event was part of a broader effort to ensure Louisiana stays competitive, visible, and top-of-mind in the industry. We’re proud to support that mission, and even prouder to see Jason helping lead the charge.

Three years ago, the world was reintroduced to the dark elegance of Louis and Lestat, and we were lucky enough to have a front-row seat. These behind-the-scenes moments from Season 1, filmed right here at The Ranch, still give us chills.

With its brooding atmosphere, breathtaking production design, and standout performances, the series really brings new emotional weight to the classic story, and we’re proud to have played a part in bringing that world to life.

It’s spooky season! And no place knows how to bring on the chills like Louisiana.

From fog-drenched bayous to creaking plantations and historic neighborhoods with stories to tell, this state has long been a go-to backdrop for horror and thriller filmmakers.

From spine-tingling thrillers like The Skeleton Key and Caddo Lake to slashers and creature features like Texas Chainsaw and The Mis, Louisiana brings gritty, unsettling tales to life like nowhere else in the world.

Louisiana lost a legend this past week week.

Jerry Leggio was a tireless advocate for Louisiana’s film community long before Hollywood truly took notice. While others packed their bags for LA, he stayed here, working to bring the industry back here to the bayou state. His belief in the talent, crews, and stories of this state never wavered. He mentored actors, supported local productions, and pushed for infrastructure that would let Louisiana filmmakers stay working at home.

We’re proud to be part of the industry he helped build. And we’re grateful for the legacy he leaves behind

Harry Shearer sat down with Keith Spera after the Spinal Tap II screening and had nothing but good things to say about the experience of filming here and the incredible local talent he got to work with.

We've said it before and we'll say it again: Louisiana is the best place to film. Period.

Nine years ago, Deepwater Horizon hit theaters and audiences got to see some of the most technically ambitious ever assembled for a film. Two large sections of the rig, designed with looks, scale, structure, and functionality, in mind, came to life right here at The Ranch.

More than 80% of the crew were Louisiana locals, which made the set feel like a true homegrown production.

If you haven't seen the movie before, check it out and let us know what you think about the sets. It's streaming now on HBO MAX.

The New Orleans Film Festival lineup has dropped, and we couldn't be more excited.

From October 23-27, film lovers from all over will gather in NOLA to catch over 130 films.

This year’s spotlight includes Jay Kelly (directed by Noah Baumbach, starring George Clooney and Adam Sandler), Is This Thing On? There’s also work from Oscar winners, indie darlings, and international voices, plus screenings at some of the best venues in town.
