Brandywine Railroad

Brandywine Railroad Every year, a family favorite returns to the Brandywine Valley...this is the page for the Brandwine Railroad.

With a collection of trains including 150 locomotives and 300 freight cars that run on nearly 2,000 feet of track, the model train display at the Brandywine River Museum is a popular holiday exhibition, delighting visitors of all ages. Toy trains in the collection are Lionel and Scale O gauge products of various manufacturers dating from 1915 to the present, often supplemented with trains loaned b

y visiting engineers. A "must see" for the youngest train fans is Thomas the Tank Engine and his friends from the Isle of Sodor.

🚆✨ Week Five: Streamlined Elegance on Rails ✨🚆

This week we celebrate the sleek lines and Art Deco spirit of rail’s golden age:

• Pennsylvania Railroad – GG1 Streamlined Passenger Train
Raymond Loewy’s iconic GG1 electric locomotive pulled streamlined passenger cars along the busy Northeast Corridor, blending engineering power with timeless design.
• Boston & Maine – Flying Yankee
Introduced in 1935, this stainless‑steel Budd trainset brought speed and modern style to New England, embodying the streamlined spirit of the era.
• New York Central – Hudson “Breast Cancer Awareness” Christmas Light Train
Our holiday favorite glows anew, pulled by a striking pink Hudson dedicated to breast cancer awareness and autographed by Victoria Wyeth. Festive lights meet resilience and hope.

Together, these trains remind us that railroads are not only about movement—they’re about artistry, innovation, and community spirit shining through the season. 🎄🚂❤️
