The People’s Choice Festival of Pennsylvania Arts & Crafts is a homegrown festival celebrating the work of Pennsylvania artists. The First Festival, held in 1993, was organized to run at th

e same time as the Central Pennsylvania Festival of the Arts and to showcase the creativity and workmanship of artisans living in Pennsylvania. The first festival featured 50 artists, a few food booths, and limited all volunteer groups. It is estimated that more than 120,000 people visited the festival in 2019! The festival featured 171 musical performances taking place in two entertainment locations, food vendor’s booths, a specialty food booth, a young artisan sales area and every day is kids day at the Peoples Choice Festival! Featuring a Children's Science Tent, Bounce houses, a riding arena, face painting, youth artisan sales... there is truly something for everyone at the festival!! The People’s Choice Festival will move to it's new venue in 2022, at the Grange Park in Centre Hall, Pennsylvania. The festival is just 10 miles from State College. The food vendor and artisan tents circle the field. Inside the circle are located two entertainment tents each seating approximately 400 people each, an activity tent, an emergency medical personnel tent, large dining area tents, four drink booths, and four rest areas. Children can play on the expansive lawn encircled by the tents. Festival goers love the Peoples Choice Festival for many reasons! The People’s Choice Festival is a newly incorporated nonprofit organization. There is plenty of parking at The Grange Park. Free shuttle golf carts are available to assist patrons in getting around the festival grounds. Special Entertainment at this years festival, check the website for listings!

We have an exciting update! We have decided to transition to using ZAPPlication for our Artisan applicants. This a platform made by and for artists and they specifically facilitate arts and crafts festivals. Many of our artists are already familiar with it. Please take a look at our application for 2024!

Returning artists may use their populated paper application but are encouraged to make the switch to the new process this year to help streamline our transition.

Please don’t hesitate to ask us any questions or for assistance with the new platform.

Please share the link with any artists you think might be interested. Our other vendor applications will be updated soon.

I don’t work with chrysoprase much but I love its soft green glow. Hammered on a beach rock the sterling silver has a nice organic texture. Still not named but this one is coming with me to People's Choice Festival of Pennsylvania July 13th-16th.

Having so much fun making for People's Choice Festival of Pennsylvania. Mermaid Dreams Earrings in amethyst and sterling silver will be coming with me and there might be a matching necklace! 🧜‍♀️

‘The botanical artworks that I create are part of a larger conservation initiative that I am pursuing in an attempt to bring awareness to the often overlooked yet very important beneficial organisms that play vital roles in healthy, biodiverse ecosystems. Many of these paintings depict insects and birds with host and nectar plants which are native to Pennsylvania and the wider Mid-Atlantic region. I use a palette of locally foraged pigments and handmade papers that I process in my home studio for use in my paintings.’

06/26/2023

Growing up in the 60’s I was fortunate to vacation in Florida at the beach for two weeks every summer. I came to admire the blue green waters and the sound of crashing waves. The various colors and textures of sea shells also fascinated me. Since 1990 I’ve lived in the mountains of Western Pennsylvania, but my heart is still at the beach.

My Glass Art is an attempt to recreate the emotions I feel every time I’m at the beach. Even though I’m a left-brained engineer type, I don’t use any patterns in my designs. I may draw a few lines on paper, but the designs in my heart guide the glass cutter. I use simple curves and colors to mimic the tranquility found along the coast.

The glass I use comes in many colors and patterns. My most used colors of glass are various shades of blue, green and white. I use both translucent and opal glass.

My fused glass is made by heating glass in a kiln to temperatures approaching 1500º F. Some art must be “fused” 3 times to produce a finished piece. Detail is added by using a mold with texture. Bowls and platters are formed using a “slump” mold. Fused glass can be used with food, but it’s NOT microwave, oven, or dishwasher safe.

I also mix crushed glass and sea shells with acrylic resin to produce coastal scenes on glass. We use a proprietary technique to control the resin flow. Each is a unique piece of art as every pour of the resin is different.

Whether placed in a window, on a wall, or on a table I hope you enjoy my Glass Art as much as I do creating it.

Food Glorious Food... Continued
Nothing like a good cup of coffee to either start your day at the People's Choice Festival, or to cap it off. So you'll be pleased to learn that Idou Coffee Company, home of small-batch, locally roasted coffee is represented here. Something to go with that great coffee? How about some sugar waffles from Cogan's Concessions? The perfect combination! Or if you're more in the mood for something really filling, Packer's Concessions has some wonderful pizza, by the slice or a whole pie! For dessert, Unicorn Concessions offers their famous strawberry shortcake sundae, or black raspberry shortcake sundae! Good stuff! So is a fresh fruit cup from B & B Concessions. There is practically no end to what you can eat or drink at the Festival. If you visit every day, you still won't have sampled everything available... but you could try... and enjoy every bite.

Did I mention continuous entertainment? NO? Watch this space for more.

Food, Glorious Food!

And if you remember the song from “Oliver,” there's “hot sausage and mustard,” and if you have a craving for it, don't miss Scott's Roasting Sausage at the People's Choice Festival. You'll love 'em! How about some crab cake sandwiches? Just stop by Sherri's Crab cakes... they've been providing delicious crab cakes to
the Festival for years, and they're a favorite. Or, if you'd prefer nutty and salty, try The Nutty Bavarian – huge, delicious glazed pecans and other nuts. Or there's Cowboy Kettle Corn... sweet and salty and scrumptious. Snyder's Concessions has always been another favorite with all the traditional things like hand-cut fries, and more unusual fare such as Cajun Chicken on a Stick! Then, cool off with some of Miller's Tropical Sno. They're different from a traditional snow cone... they're more like the delicious Hawaiian shaved ice in many cool and delicious flavors... and they have caramel popcorn as well! And there's so much more, so watch this space for examples. Come to the Festival hungry, because you won't be hungry for long. And now, I think I need to go and get some Clem's Barbecue. Or maybe maybe a Rosie's Pierogie or two... More later!

Kathy, I want to go to this next year!
Now that Gov. Wolf is lifting all restrictions, except masking, on 5/31, is there any chance at all that People's Choice could still occur for 2021? Even if it was in a smaller size?
HI do you know if there will bhe a craft show in 2021 ? if so how do i become a craft vendor there?

The People's Choice Festival of Pennsylvania would have been today through Sunday and we are sad that we aren't there this year. We're missing seeing all the talented youth artists, the vendors we enjoy visiting year after year, the petting zoo, the bounce houses and of course, the pierogies. The festival has been moved online so you can shop from the comfort of a chair in your climate controlled home. Please visit https://rossiwebdesigns.wixsite.com/peopleschoicefest to check out all of the booths that would have been set up, especially the "Youth Artisans" category! 🐴
We are excited about the Virtual People's Choice Festival!
