Central City Opera

Central City Opera World-class performances. Intimate theater. Authentic Rocky Mountain setting. 35 min from Denver, CO.

Founded in 1932, Central City Opera is the nation's fifth-oldest opera company, located just 35 miles west of Denver in one of Colorado's official National Landmark Historic Districts. The company continues to present artistically excellent professional opera in its annual summer festival; to offer career-entry training to young singers; to produce education and community service programs; and to preserve and maintain the Opera House and 28 other Victorian-era properties.

We are delighted to announce the final cohort of members of the Bonfils-Stanton Foundation Artists Training Program, our 2026 Studio Artists!

Studio Artists are emerging singers taking the first steps into their professional careers. They perform in ensemble and chorus roles throughout the festival, understudy secondary roles, and perform in Short Works, a favorite Festival Extra featuring scenes from opera and musical theatre.

Selected from a pool of nearly 1,000 applicants, they receive vocal coaching with the festival’s expert music staff and attend training sessions in movement and stage combat.

Experience the magic of our Studio Artists this summer! Get your tickets today at https://centralcityopera.org/2026-festival/

Hear us out: Susanna and Elizabeth Bennett would definitely recognize each other.

Like Pride and Prejudice? We think you’ll love The Marriage of Figaro! We asked our staff which of their favorite tv shows, movies, books, and music remind them of Mozart’s chaotic classic opera. Here’s part one of our series!

Tickets are on sale today. centralcityopera.org/the-marriage-of-figaro-2026/

It is with heavy hearts that we remember William "Bill" Lewis — a joyful soul who helped shape the early sound of Central City Opera as one of our very first collaborative pianists in the '70s and '80s.

Bill brought music to life in ways that touched everyone who had the privilege of sharing a stage or a rehearsal room with him. His gift was not just his talent, but his generous spirit and the joy he poured into every note.

His family warmly invites CCO friends and alumni to gather in his honor at a memorial service on June 20th in Nederland, Colorado — a chance to celebrate the beautiful legacy he leaves behind and the music that will always carry his memory.
