Happenings at The Fine Art Center for December:

Visiting Artist Area:
Art by Patricia Tallman and Wanda Stofer

Patricia Tallman was the First Place Winner of the 2016 Square Foot Exhibition will be exhibiting her art during December. Wanda Stofer is a water color artist in the local area. This will be a special exhibit, so stop by to see it.

Art by Kathryn Kaines will be exhibited in December in the Art Room. Kathryn began oil painting during the late 70''s and early 80's when she came home after long days selling real estate in Michigan. This was her way to relax and she would paint into the wee hours of the night. She had some paintings exhibited at the art gallery in Escondido, California where she took pride in the fact that one of her paintings hung next to one by Brad Anderson (creator of Marmaduke). One of her works took first place in that same gallery.

Members Window: Artist Lucille Nagy Carroll will exhibit her art in the Member’s window from Now - December 17.
Bonnie K***z will display her art from December 18 - 31.

The Holiday Gala was held at The Fine Art Center at Cross Pointe last night. A lot of people showed up, many purchased some art, and everyone joined in the fun. If you missed it, please stop by. We have paintings, photography, jewelry, pottery, figurines, greeting cards, and much more at all price points. Lots of selection! Below are some pictures of the event from last night. Exciting events are happening in November at The Fine Art Center!!

On November 10 from 5:00 - 8:00 pm we will have our Magical Starlight Celebration to start the holiday season. Live music, wine, and hors d'oeuvres will be served. You will be able to find gift ideas for your family and friends at all price points!

In November "Paws and Claus" will feature and exhibit of pet paintings and photographs. On November 19 stop by with your pet and have a "Paw Print Ornament" made.

Be sure to take advantage of these opportunities and stop by. Hours are Tuesday - Saturday 11-7, Sunday 1-5, closed Mondays.

Visiting Artist Area -
Kaleidoscope Retrospective from October 1 - 30
Description: A Retrospective of the Kaleidoscope Series of geometric abstract paintings by Walt Murch, will be showcased in the Visiting Artist Gallery at The Fine Art Center. The paintings playfully explore the relationships between shapes and colors and how they interrelate with each other; which blends fine art with graphic design.

Also, the students of Diane Coyle have a nice exhibition of their paintings in the Art Room.

Sculptures by Bob Bush are now at The Fine Art Center!! These are extremely creative sculptures which are located in the Visiting Artist Area, please stop by to see this creative exhibit.

September happenings at The Fine Art Gallery at Cross Pointe:

A High Tea - American Style is scheduled Monday, September 26 from 3:00 to 5:00 pm at The Fine Art Center at Cross Pointe
TFAC will be offering a High Tea and art presentation in our Art Room at the TFAC gallery. The tea will include finger sandwiches, pastries, and tea, of course. A fascinating presentation on the great Georgia O'Keefe will be offered by Rina Thau, former president of the gallery and docent at the Dayton Art Institute. The cost is $25; because the seats are limited, please contact the gallery at
937-293-5381 and make your reservation early. This should be a lovely, Downton Abbey-nostalgic event.

Sculptures by Bob Bush are now at The Fine Art Center!! These are extremely creative sculptures which are located in the Visiting Artist Area. Please stop by to see this creative exhibit.

We also have a fine cross stitch art exhibit by Jean MacLeod from Fairborn throughout September. We are having a reception on Friday, September 16th from 2:00 - 4:00 pm to meet the artist. Please stop by to view this exceptional work.

Please see the listings below for September and October. Consider getting involved in these classes. All workshops are taught by local artists with long years of experience. Stop by to pick up a flyer showing the complete schedule for the year. These workshops are usually held from 1:00 - 3:00 pm:

Painting with Pastels – October 1
Beginner’s Light Room – October 5, 12, 19, and 26 from 6:00 – 7:30 pm ($30 for all 4 sessions. Students need to bring a laptop computer, trial versions of Lightroom can be obtained at: www.adobe.com/downloads.html)

There are loads of exciting events at The Fine Art Center yet in August:

On August 27th from 4:00 - 6:00 pm come to a reception at The Fine Art Center for Artist of the Month Victoria Kisel Carman. From now till September 3rd she has a display in the Members Window of her beautiful paintings, watercolors and prints. There will be live music, refreshments, and lots of excitement at the reception. Victoria will be signing her own books including a new illustrated fairy-tale. There are also many wonderful works of art, sculpture, pottery, wood art and jewelry from other artists. So please stop by!

Also stop by and see the sculptures by artist Bob Bush. His display of creative works is in the Visiting Artist area. These sculptures are a must see!!

The Square Foot National Exhibition is on display at The Fine Art Center at Cross Point during August. A reception was held on August 6th and top awards presented. The exhibition shows the creativity of the artists who had one square foot to work with.
Awards: First Place was Trisha Tallman - Memories of S. E. Asia. Second Place was Mikee Huber, Geode #2, Third Place was Pamela Stafford, Birds on Wire, Honorable Mentions went to:
Christine Klinger - Water Series #2, David Zawisa - Silver Lining, Silver Lining and Michael Gummer, Good Golly. Thanks to all who participated in the Square Foot Exhibition!

Also in August, stop in to see the special art by Karen Benedetti, a long time Dayton artist. She is moving out of town soon and is having an artwork sale. This will be your last chance to own some of her art.

Art for sale. We are holding a side walk sale at The Fine Art Center at Cross Pointe, 103 Alex-Bell Road, Centerville.
