I haven't created an entirely new ballet since 2019-2020 because of restaging previous work and having my assistant and dear friend Andrea create & direct our show last season. I have a bit of a gardening habit and have seen so many spiritual parallels and really understood parables and other truths from Scripture on a deeper level. So, I knew this was my direction for this season, but creating these stories is always like looking through thick fog where you can make out an outline of something but really cannot see exactly what it's going to be.
We have been collaborating on song choices as a staff for several months now, and I had shared teaching from the Word on these topics at our annual retreat. However, that's about the extent of how much I had prepared thus far. So, last Thursday, Andrea kindly reminded me that we had a recital planning meeting scheduled for Saturday. I think I looked at her like a deer in headlights because I hadn't put it into my new planner and completely forgot about it. I had no idea what I was going to do with my staff at that meeting.
By the grace of God, I was able to sit with my earbuds in a coffee shop for a couple of hours on Friday, and He gave me an entire story outline and new songs and inspiration. I am so excited to share this story with our audiences next June! And I'm so grateful for the opportunity to create again!
