"The Velvet Glance" Original acrylic painting and audio

A moment in Florence found its way into my studio.
This Caravaggio-inspired portrait was born after wandering through the Uffizi museum—captivated by chiaroscuro, velvet shadows, and the quiet confidence in the eyes of Renaissance women.

During my artist residency at La Macina di San Cresci, I met a beautiful young woman whose elegance and warmth lingered in my memory. She became the muse for this piece—an echo of Italian classical portraiture filtered through my contemporary lens.

It isn’t my usual style, yet it felt natural to explore this world of oil-rich textures, softened drama, and luminous skin tones. Sometimes we need to step sideways to surprise ourselves.
