Decorating cat cups: some studio glimpses! After throwing with about 15-16 Oz of clay, I add in the thumb dimples, trim, sign, and store my leatherhard cups! They wait patiently for me while I prep stencils (freshly cut on my cricut or reused from my stash). Then on to painting with underglaze, touching up, and carving stars! Then more patient waiting until they are ready to go into the bisque firing. What patient little pots 😂😜🥹

🌱A special project! ❤️

Amidst working on restocking travel cups, I’ve also been working on my first personal pottery project in years (?!). I’m always thinking about the next market, or restocking inventory for the shops that sell my work, or doing a comission! I love doing all these things, but there’s something very special about getting to play in the studio and make something different and fun and outside of my usual offerings!! I made this big planter out of my scraps from several different clay bodies (all slam wedged together into a nice brown mix, swipe to see the fun marbled cross section from when I was mixing and wedging the clays all together!). I rolled out a big slab of clay (a rectangle about 16” by 37”) and used a 5 gallon bucket as my form! After tapering in the bottom and SMOOTHING I set to work on carving. I wanted to do a textural, repeating but flowing pattern - and here’s what I came up with! I realized that it reminds me of a when you put a warm corn on the cob onto a stick of butter, what do you think? 🌽🧈? I’ll be firing this planter sometime this summer, so stay tuned to see the finished product!

Also I made focaccia for the first time! Yay for victories in and out of the studio!

📖New design alert! 📚
I’m so excited to share this new batch with you all! I’ll be bringing these and more to the Pots, Plants, and Prints market this Saturday, April 25th from 10am-3pm!

These new designs were inspired by a comission for the Hiawatha Library for summer reading prizes! (More to come on that). In addition to those pots, I decided to play with various color combinations and fine tune this new design! I’ve always loved reading, fantasy books, audiobooks, and now that I also work at the Hiawatha library, this design just made sense! I love drawing inspiration from my hobbies and daily life, and I hope you love these new designs as much as I do! If there are any of these leftover after my market, I’ll list them on my website!

It’s been a busy few weeks! I’ve been working hard in my studio making work for , my other retailers, and next art fairs!! I’ve also been dreaming up some new book themed designs for a summer reading prize commission at my library! 📚 I’ll be revealing those once they are out of the kiln! We’re definitely going to have to add the book themes to the usual lineup of Cabyn Fever designs! 🌿📖✨
When not in the studio, I also got to visit my family in Minnesota and celebrated my 31st birthday with my husband, our dog, and an amazing pistachio blackberry cake from !!
If you are looking to purchase some of my pots, you can find them on my site, at my various retailers, and also at my next art fair in Cedar Rapids! On April 25th I’ll be at the pots, plants, and prints market from 10-3pm!

Mark your calendars! I’ll be at the Pots, Plants, and Prints market on April 25th from 10-3pm!

I dropped off new planters and air plant vases for last week!! I made some new 2 inch mini planters in a wonderful variety of earth tones - you might need a whole gradient for your windowsill! We’ve also got 4” planters for your bigger plants, and these lovely mini air plant vases for your small buds or to hold an epiphyte friend!

My next batch is in progress!! I’m making more inventory for the fair in February! Then I’ll likely add a few new things to my website in late February or early March💪.
It’s been a busy and stressful couple of weeks - so I haven’t had as much time or energy as I would like to make things in my studio. But it’s been good stress relief to do art!! ❤️‍🩹🐾🌷🌿

Hello! It’s been awhile since I posted! I had a very busy beginning of December with all of my holiday art fairs, and then I took a desperately needed break that included getting a bad cold 😆. But aside from that, this month has been mainly focused on working my part time library job, spending lots of time with my sweet dog Casey, continuing my foray into stained glass, and starting to make my next batch of pots! I’m working on some super cute two inch planters for and I can’t handle how lovely and small they are! When I started selling at Moss about 6 years ago, I made a series of sunset colored mini planters for them, so this feels a little like returning to my origins 💕🌿. I would like to make a big thank you for all of your support last year, it was my best sales year since my wrist issues started, so that’s a huge win! Especially since the wrist issues are mostly managed and I can do the art that I love doing!
