The weather is looking warm and clear for this weekend's Level Up Live! events. If you need a cold drink to help you cool down, our bar has you covered! Thank you to everyone who joined us yesterday afternoon for the kick off of our new Pack a Lunch, Unpack History series! We enjoyed hearing your thoughts about the story of the Douglas family surviving the 1906 San Francisco Earthquake.

Around 5:12 A.M. on April 18th, 1906, George and Irene Douglas woke to a 7.9 magnitude earthquake causing their San Francisco hotel to “rock and sway like a ship at sea.” George said the roughly 45 seconds of the earthquake were “the longest which I have ever known.”

Tomorrow, August 27, Brucemore's Curator of Museum Collections will share the story of the Douglas family's experience as their family vacation turned into an encounter with a deadly natural disaster. Join us for Pack a Lunch, Unpack History: Surviving the 1906 San Francisco Earthquake to hear George Douglas' personal account and examine what's missing from the archival sources: Irene's experience navigating the emergency as a young mother.

Tonight was a beautiful evening for live outdoor music! We loved hearing new songs by Marcy Each. Marcy wrote her latest album, Love and Suffering, with Brucemore's Artisan Studio as part of an artist development project. We were excited to see this project culminate in an album release concert outside the mansion. You can enjoy the songs at home by purchasing the album or streaming it.
