This Juneteenth, we celebrate the creativity, resilience, and lasting influence of Black artists whose work has shaped the world of ceramics and the arts.

From functional pottery to contemporary sculpture, these artists have used clay to tell stories, preserve history, honor culture, and inspire generations.

Today, we invite you to take a moment to explore and appreciate the incredible artistry, innovation, and cultural contributions of Black artists. Art has the power to connect us, teach us, and remind us of the stories that deserve to be shared.

Our 3-Day Built by Hand Camp introduces students to foundational clay techniques including pinch pots, coil construction, and slab building. Campers complete one themed project each day while building structural skills, creative confidence, and craftsmanship. Instruction is guided and supportive, allowing room for individual interpretation within the theme of the week.

Campers will create and glaze their projects during the camp sessions, with one project being made each day. All finished pieces will be kiln-fired in our studio for a professional ceramic finish. Projects will be packaged together and available for pickup approximately four weeks after camp ends. All materials are included.

Dates: June 22–June 24

Say hello to Ellie, one of our amazing Summer Camp Interns! 🎨💛
Ellie is a first-year student at Kirkwood Community College and is spending her summer helping campers explore their creativity.
✨ What does Ellie love most about teaching art?
"Getting inspired by kids' ideas and hopefully inspiring them in return."

Art that makes you feel something—whether it's powerful, emotional, or just plain silly!

Say hello to Kiera F., who is back for her second summer as a Summer Camp Intern! 🎉🎨
Kiera is getting ready to begin her senior year at Kennedy High School, and we're so happy to have her sharing her creativity with our campers again this summer.
✨ What does Kiera love most about teaching art?
"I love seeing kids' creativity shine through their art and hearing how excited they are to come to camp."
🎨 What does she love about making art?
Art gives her the freedom to create anything she can dream of and express herself in unique and meaningful ways.
🐾 Fun fact about Kiera:
She has quite the animal family! At home you'll find 5 aquariums, 5 cats, 2 dogs, and a gerbil. It's safe to say she loves taking care of both people and animals!
We're excited to have Kiera back for another summer of inspiring young artists and helping make camp a creative, welcoming place for every camper.

SIGN UP FOR OUR NEXT FRIDAY NIGHT OUT!

Participants will create a pair of textured bud vases perfect for spring cut flowers! This 21+ workshop is BYOB. With guided instruction, participants will learn how to use basic pinch and coil techniques to form the body of the vase. Textures will be created through carving, stamps, or pinching.

Projects will be created in a 5”x5”x5”h format. Personalize it for your home using a variety of our mixable colors. All projects are processed through our kilns, once after they dry and a second time with a white glaze. Finished projects will be available for pick up after 3 weeks at ICCGS. Bring your creativity!

THIS SATURDAY!! Celebrate summer by creating a sun bowl! Participants will use basic techniques to drape clay into a 5”w x 5”w bowl mold and add sunny elements. Add sun ray details, a pair of sunglasses, a face, etc! Once finished, paint your sun with colors to brighten it! All projects are processed through our kilns, once after it dries and a second time with a clear glaze. Finished projects will be available for pick up after 3 weeks at ICCGS. Bring your creativity, this is always a fun workshop for kids and adults! For ages 5+.

*Registrants age 5-7 must be accompanied by a paying adult also registered for the workshop.

Functional Deconstruction & Glaze Experimentation
A Solo Exhibition by Resident Artist Adam Nelson-Ockenfels

Join us as we launch our 2026 Resident Artist Exhibition Series with a solo exhibition by Resident Artist Adam Nelson-Ockenfels. Showcasing a year of artistic research and growth, Adam's work explores the intersection of functional ceramics and glaze experimentation through thought-provoking vessels and innovative surface design.
