Hello Iowa Fiber Artists Remember this OPEN CALL for Entries? It is due at the stroke of midnight this Friday, May 29. So, if you have been putting on your last tweaks here and there it is time to STOP, DROP AND ROLL! Get those photos shot, your brief bio, READ THE INSTRUCTIONS ON OUR WEBSITE, AND SUBMIT!

For those of you being Nervous Nellie's here is your pep talk. What is the holdup? A call for Fiber Artists (which mean fiber somewhere in your art piece, not necessarily all fiber) doesn't happen very often. So WHAT DO YOU HAVE TO LOSE BESIDES ADDING TO YOUR PILE OF REGRETS?? DO IT! TAKE THE CHANCE. GIVE IT A GO!!!

The Cedar Rapids Museum of Art announces a CALL FOR ENTRIES
Threading the Needle: Fiber Art in Iowa An All Iowa Artists Juried Exhibition
October 3, 2026 – January 17, 2027

This all-Iowa, open call, juried art exhibition seeks to highlight the talented artists working in fiber in the state, drawing attention to the rich variety, conceptual prowess, and technical skill of their work, and to represent the continued legacy of the medium as it appears in Iowa.

The exhibition will be juried by Kim Eichler-Messmer, Astrid Hilger Bennett, and Julia Jessen.

Artists are invited to submit up to 3 original works available for display. The submitted artworks must be rooted in fiber or utilize textile techniques but may include additional materials; this includes, but is not limited to, quilting, weaving, needle arts, felting, textile-based sculpture, dyeing, etc., or any combination thereof. The work may encompass any approach from representational to abstract; traditional or functional, to avant-garde.

Yesterday’s show was so great! Everyone there was so kind, and it was great meeting all the wonderful people that came through to visit us there! Special thanks to Atelier at 1109 for such a fun show, and Hotel Pattee was just the perfect setting for it!

As part of this year’s Fiber Festival of Perry theme, we’re celebrating the real stars of the fiber world: sheep and the incredible wool they produce.

On May 16th, our outdoor courtyard will transform into a Baa-zaar, where local farmers can share and sell raw wool, fleeces, and fiber directly with spinners, makers, and fiber enthusiasts. It’s a chance to showcase the amazing sheep raised here in Iowa and throughout the Midwest while connecting directly with people who love working with wool.

Let’s celebrate the sheep, the fiber, and the farmers who make it all possible. 🐑
