Due to personal circumstances I haven’t been able to attend as much theater recently as I have in the past.

So, to spend this past weekend with friends (new and old) attending shows, learning at seminars, discussing late into the night, and hearing from actors and artists - well, it was like coming home.

Thank you and for helping make our Theater Lovers Experiences every thing that they are.

Thank you for welcoming us back year after year (14 years and counting for me).

And thank you to all those who continue to trust us with your theater travel, experiences, and memories. You’ve made my dream come true.

Until the next one.

and I introduced this little one to Les Mis last night (my all time fav show). She made it through Eponine and the entire barricade scene without a problem.

Mind you, Hamilton broke her as did Mrs. Doubtfire (divorce sensitivities). I was prepared for the worst case scenario.

But coming out of the barricade scene I was flabbergasted with no tears. I certainly was shedding quite a few…

But then Empty Chairs and Empty Tables hit and it was game over.

They were doing an Equity Care’s fundraiser in the lobby after and she happened to have a $100 bill that she plopped into the bucket (she was still crying quite a bit at this point). I promptly took it out and tried to convince her to donate a lower amount but eventually talked her into returning this weekend if she hasn’t changed her mind and still wanted to donate. Mind you - I’ve donated a lot to BC/EFA over the years, it’s a wonderful organization - but $100 of this little one’s money is nearly everything she has.

Tears were still flowing freely by the time we reached the car… This one has the biggest heart I’ve ever seen.

At the end of the day – it was a truly wonderful evening being able to spend it with my girls – and Neil. 😉 I couldn’t help but think back to when my parents brought me to see Les Mis for the first time and how things have come full circle – being able to share my love for this special show with those I love.

Les Mis and my parents made me the theater lover that I am and while it would’ve been wonderful to be able to have them there with me as well – the next best thing was to be able to have the ability to share this love with the next generation.

From our first 4 o’clock matinee 13 years ago this month at to tonight‘s 4 o’clock matinee at – it’s been everything I always dreamed it would be.

The Theater Lovers event today was bittersweet because I’m not sure when we’ll be having another one.

After nearly 200 events - I’m making the difficult decision to take a step back this year from our monthly events (hopefully not for good).

Thank you all for an amazing 13 years!

Wrapping up our quick NYC weekend trip with and Deep History at . is simply one of the most beautiful actors of all time. And I don’t mean physically. Physically he is attractive - however his talent is beyond stunning.

So, I’ve gone to post this a few times but haven’t - but with Baby Reindeer‘s Emmy sweeps - it’s close to my heart.

Rewind to 2019 and me attending the Edinburgh Fringe Festival for the first time with the Theater Lovers and somewhat randomly attending a show called Baby Reindeer (by myself). After seeing nearly 30 shows that trip I posted that it was my favorite and the creator and star, Richard Gadd, commented on that post… 😁 I highlighted at the end of that year that it was one my favorite show of 2019 and one of the best shows I’ve ever seen.

Fast forward to 2020 - I found out it was coming to New York – planned a trip for the Theater Lovers to see it, the pandemic happened, he had to announce the cancellation of his productions of Baby Reindeer, we pulled our trip, and I proceeded to communicate with him about the possibility of streaming the stage show of Baby Reindeer … Guess there were bigger plans in the making. ;-)

Then literally nothing for nearly 4 years – there were hints of Netflix picking up the show, I bought a VPN in case it only streamed in the UK, then all of a sudden there was an announcement that it was being released on Netflix as a miniseries this spring… Then it blew up. Then you all know what happened next.

But I remember it best, sitting on the front row, in a theater in the round, for just over an hour, while he told his story less than 10 feet away from me. One of the most incredible theater experiences of my life. He is truly a remarkable man.

Another amazing up at seeing Next to Normal tonight. What a tear jerker.

They treated us to a pre-show discussion where we learned a little bit about their amazing history and awesome education they provide the youth in our community. What an incredible mission they have. Did you know they put on 23 productions a year and they’ve only been operating for eight years? Incredible! Thanks so much for hosting us – can’t wait to come back soon.

Next up – Magicians Elephant at in October. See you there.

175 Events and Counting...

We had the best last weekend with at Legally Blonde! It was such a fun production and an amazing way to to celebrate our 175th event (the group even brought me flowers - thanks ).

The cast and creative team treated us to a wonderful post-show discussion and we were then able to continue our conversation over dinner at Spaghetti Factory in Taylorsville.

Thanks to all who came out to make it such a wonderful event.

But the fun never stops - we have TWO events in September! With !

Behind the Curtain with Santino Fontana (includes dinner and dancing) on Friday, September 6th.

Next to Normal on Saturday, September 21st.
A few of our other events are already low on tickets (Magician’s Elephant and Ragtime) - so if you want to join us - grab tickets before it’s too late!
