“Hacking” is the act of letting a young bird have the chance to build muscle, gain flying experience, and follow a natural path to self actualization as a predator.
Two kinds of hack exist:
Wild Hacking - done with birds raised by their parents with no human contact. They are collected from the nest a week or so before they are capable of flight. They finish growing at a shelter within the hack site and given complete freedom once they are full grown. Once they are fully capable of catching their own food they are trapped in the shelter and collected for introduction to the falconer for the first time.
Tame Hacking- done with birds raised by the falconer from a very young age. Raised with humans therefore exhibiting zero fear association with the lifestyle of the falconer (ie. cars, dogs, kids). The falcon is taken to a field every morning and evening and given complete freedom. The falcon is collected every evening to stay in the home of the falconer. The pictures below are photos of our hack site where we are tame hacking our imprint Perlin.
