OPENING TODAY - Please join us today for the opening of ๐˜›๐˜ฆ๐˜ฏ๐˜ฅ๐˜ฆ๐˜ณ ๐˜Ž๐˜ณ๐˜ฐ๐˜ถ๐˜ฏ๐˜ฅ from 3 to 6 pm at our Catskill gallery! ๐Ÿ“107 Water Street, Catskill NY

The exhibition features work by Travis Boyer, Angelina Gualdoni, Lexia Hachtmann, Mevlana Lipp, and Krzysztof Strzelecki. Across painting and sculpture, ๐˜›๐˜ฆ๐˜ฏ๐˜ฅ๐˜ฆ๐˜ณ ๐˜Ž๐˜ณ๐˜ฐ๐˜ถ๐˜ฏ๐˜ฅ examines nature and the natural world as forms of shelter: sites of refuge, intimacy, concealment, and transformation.

Nature can be seen as a language, a way of moving between the organic, the constructed, and the emotional. Leaves, flowers, roots, bodies, and other biomorphic forms appear as mutable structures through which experience is felt and organized.

Gaa is pleased to present, ๐˜›๐˜ฆ๐˜ฏ๐˜ฅ๐˜ฆ๐˜ณ ๐˜Ž๐˜ณ๐˜ฐ๐˜ถ๐˜ฏ๐˜ฅ, a group exhibition featuring Travis Boyer, Angelina Gualdoni, Lexia Hachtmann, Mevlana Lipp and Krzysztof Strzelecki. Taking nature and the natural world as forms of shelter, the artists work with biomorphic form, material sensuality, and references to organic life to explore intimacy, memory, and transformation. Across painting and sculpture, the exhibition treats nature as a languageโ€”a way of moving between the organic, the constructed, and the emotional.

Please join us for the opening reception on October 3 at 107 Water St in Catskill, NY. Please send us a DM or email for a preview or further information.

Thank you to Artsy and Hayoung Chung for featuring our solo presentation of Johanna Seidel as one of Frieze Seoulโ€™s best booths!

โ€œAt a corner of the fairโ€™s Focus section, visitors toย Gaa Galleryโ€™s booth were welcomed by the galleristโ€”and his eight-month-old son, watching from a stroller. It was a fittingly personal introduction to the pastoral yet slightly surreal paintings of Dresden-based German artistย Johanna Seidel.

With spaces in Cologne and New York, the gallery is making its Frieze Seoul debut in the section for galleries founded since 2014. This is also Seidelโ€™s first presentation in Korea, following a strong response atย Art Basel Hong Kongย earlier this year.

Her scenes initially appear familiar: Figures occupy bedrooms and domestic interiors, while animals, plants, and celestial forms hover nearby. Look longer, and they drift somewhere between everyday life and dreams. Siennas, violets, and murky greens give the oil paintings an unexpectedly soft, almost porous quality.

Most are modest enough to fit above a bed.ย Jewel Thiefย (2026), a portrait of a woman holding a cigar on a tall, narrow canvas, is priced at โ‚ฌ3,000 ($3,478). While I was there, a collector who had purchased another small painting was already asking whether they could take it home that day.โ€

OPENING TODAY - Gaa is thrilled to present new oil paintings by Dresden-based artist Johanna Seidel for its first Frieze Seoul participation.

A restrained yet luminous palette anchors the series: transparent sky blue, pale pink, gold-green, and earthy oranges evoke the sensory overload of late spring and early summer. Within this heightened atmosphere, Seidel turns her attention to female desire and its modes of representation. Mundane objects become narratively charged; fragments from near and distant histories merge with the fairy-tale-like; and culturally embedded stories are invoked only to be fractured at crucial moments, allowing for a renewed, contemporary storytelling.

Seidelโ€™s practice has long been concerned with the nature of perceived realities, weaving symbols from mythology, dreams, and daily life into poetic, atmospheric canvases. Trained at the Hochschule fรผr Bildende Kรผnste Dresden (MFA), she has exhibited widely across Europe and the United States, including recent solo shows at CLC Gallery Venture (Beijing), Galerie Laetitia Gorsy (Leipzig), and Gaa (New York, Cologne) and solo presentations at Liste Art Fair (Basel) and Frieze Seoul (Seoul).
