Bridge Street Theatre is a 12,000 square foot building that houses the Priscilla Mainstage, an 84-seat auditorium which presents classics and cutting edge theatre, and the Speakeasy, which hosts small theatre, music, magic and more.

On July 3rd, we'll be partnering with the Catskill Public Library for a return visit of Ned Averill-Snell's HERKIMER! HOW MY IGNORANT IMMIGRANT ANCESTORS SAVED AMERICA AND YOU CAN TOO. A huge hit at our SoloFest back in March of this year, it's a heartfelt and hilarious take on Ned's personal connection to an obscure Revolutionary War battle that occurred not too far from Catskill itself! This event will be held at the Library's YA Room at 1:00 in the afternoon as part of the day-long America 250 Celebration in the Village. More info soon!

We're then looking forward with great anticipation to the return of our Emerging Artists Production of the B'way musical PIPPIN. This was the show that was all set to open at Catskill High in March of 2020 when COVID shut everything down. We're thrilled to be bringing it to our Mainstage this summer featuring a couple members of the original Catskill High cast FINALLY getting to play the roles they never got the chance to perform back in 2020. PIPPIN runs for 8 performances only July 9-19. These Summer Youth productions are always packed to the rafters, so gettin' reservations early is an excellent idea. Comin' to our Mainstage Sunday afternoon June 28th. Catwalk Institute presents dancer/choreographer Marion Spencer in "ecdysis". Tickets now at bridgest.org/marion-spencer/

"ecdysis" is a solo project in development and part of a series of solos excavating lineage, embodiment and dreams amidst onrushing climate catastrophe. This research is feminine, feminist, interdisciplinary and inspired by the act and process of shedding – internal, external, decolonial and archival. Studying adaptation as an experimental, theoretical and intuitive practice, this project asks – ‘what do we let go of’ and ‘what do we dream for’ at the end of the world? "ecdysis" is the second in a series of solos marion is making exploring the nature of being alive and embodied while the world falls apart. [ecdysis (noun): the process where an animal sheds its outer layer, called the cuticle or exoskeleton, to allow for growth, renewal and development.]

marion spencer (she/her/hers) is an interdisciplinary dance artist based in Brooklyn, NY since 2014. Weaving movement, sound & installation, she creates solo and ensemble performances built from feminine, feminist and interdisciplinary practices. Her creative research engages scientific, artistic and academic texts, images and objects- interrogating these materials through embodied research. marion utilizes her training in experimental postmodern dance, choral singing and installation, placing these mediums in conversation with her personal heritage as the child of Mesoamerican Archaeologists from Venezuela and Panama. This lineage shapes her creative interests in excavating extinction, adaptation and futurity by centering the kind of feminist knowledge and intuitive wisdom that comes only from thinking through the body. marion is a 2023 New York Dance & Performance (‘Bessie’) Awards Nominee for Outstanding Breakout Choreographer. Her work has been presented in New York City by La Mama Experimental Theatre, Roulette Intermedium, Center for Performance Research, Danspace Project, Gibney, New Dance Alliance, Movement Research at Judson Church, Triskelion Arts, Target Margin Theater and more. She has been an Artist in Residence at MacDowell, The American Dance Festival, The Chocolate Factory Theater, The Field Center, Gibney, Amherst College and Mana Contemporary, among others. As a performer, marion has had the pleasure of collaborating with Joanna Kotze, Laurie Berg, BAND|portier, Laura Peterson, Larissa Velez-Jackson, Michelle Boulé, Tyler Rai and as a guest performer with David Dorfman Dance and the Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company. She has been on faculty at Rutgers University, Sarah Lawrence College, Movement Research, Gibney, Dancewave and more. marion also teaches Pilates and is a Craniosacral Therapist. BRIDGE STREET THEATRE OFFERS A WEEKEND OF MAGIC, MOVIES, AND MODERN DANCE

Three Special Events Fill the Catskill Stage June 27–28

CATSKILL, NY — Bridge Street Theatre will present three special events over the weekend of June 27–28, 2026, featuring magic, cult cinema, and contemporary dance.

The weekend begins Saturday, June 27 at 7pm with the return of Hudson Valley magician Thomas Baker. At just 20 years old, Baker has become a favorite with Bridge Street Theatre audiences with his blend of illusion, mind-reading, and audience participation. Suitable for families and audiences of all ages, the performance marks Baker’s latest appearance on the Catskill stage.

Later that evening, Michael Wyrd’s Midnight Movie Madness celebrates Pride Month with a 10:30pm screening of the cult classic "To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything! Julie Newmar" on Bridge Street Theatre’s big screen. Starring Patrick Swayze, Wesley Snipes, and John Leguizamo, the 1995 film follows three drag queens on a cross-country road trip. The evening includes games, trivia, and audience participation.

The weekend concludes Sunday, June 28 at 2pm with "ecdysis", a solo work by Brooklyn-based choreographer and interdisciplinary artist Marion Spencer, presented by Catwalk Institute. Combining movement, sound, and projection, the work explores themes of transformation and renewal. Spencer was nominated for a 2023 New York Dance and Performance (“Bessie”) Award for Outstanding Breakout Choreographer and has presented work at La MaMa Experimental Theatre Club, Danspace Project, Gibney, and other venues throughout the country.

Thomas Baker, Magician performs Saturday, June 27 at 7pm. Tickets are $30 for adults and $25 for students. Michael Wyrd’s Midnight Movie Madness presents "To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything! Julie Newmar" on Saturday, June 27 at 10:30pm. Doors open at 9:30pm and tickets are $10. Marion Spencer’s "ecdysis", presented by Catwalk Institute, takes place Sunday, June 28 at 2pm. Just so we don't get too complacent. The big display window and our marquee at the theatre were egged sometime last night or this morning, as was, we hear, West Bridge Tea & Art - both gay-owned and operated businesses. Got things cleaned up before today's final performance of R'ville Stage Creation's production of THE LARAMIE PROJECT, all about the reaction in a small rural town to the murder of Matthew Shepard back in 1998. The hate is real and it's still alive - right here in our Village.
