Win some, lose some!

I popped up to the State Fair today to check on my entries. I don’t think any of my projects placed this year, but honestly, it’s still so much fun to be a part of it all!

Some of my talented friends who entered fared a little better. Amy, my stained-glass artist friend from the Artful Flea, took 1st place for her gorgeous lampshade! And Judy A. placed with both of her beautiful watercolors!

I may not be bringing home a ribbon this year, but I’m happy just to be part of this creative community, cheer on my fellow makers, and put my work out there. That’s a win in my book!

Still a work in progress, but what do we think so far?

I am absolutely in love with this ballerina and those sweet little toe shoes! The frame is a vintage find that needs a little touch-up staining, but that’s an easy fix.

I can already see where this one is headed, and I think she’s going to be beautiful when she’s finished. Sometimes the best projects start with a little vision, a vintage find, and a whole lot of “let’s see what happens!” #

Meet our hunka, hunka Hank! He’s the best dog ever and will be three in October. Somehow, he’s still convinced he’s a puppy—and honestly, I’m not going to argue with him.

Came across this adorable honeypot lamp while thrifting the other day, and I immediately knew exactly what he needed to complete the ensemble—a Pooh lampshade!

Now the hunt is on for a flat, white fabric lampshade so I can add some transfers and bring this little honey-loving guy to life.

Because apparently, even thrifted lamps need a little Hundred Acre Wood magic!

My entries are officially in for the Maryland State Fair! Last year, I tried to enter my Vintage Window Bunny, but she was just a little too big for the rules. This year, I was a bit distracted and didn’t get a couple of things finished—but that’s okay! I decided to go with what I had and get my creations entered.

If you make it to the Fair, keep an eye out for my work! There’s nothing quite like seeing something you created on display at the State Fair. I’m pretty excited—and maybe just a little nervous—to see how everything does!

Go big, dream big, CREATE BIG!
