Dear Castleton Recreation Community,

Thank you for your continued patience as we work through the rollout of Rec Desk, our new recreation management platform! We appreciate everyone who has already created an account and taken the time to get familiar with the new system.

We’re making progress and are excited to begin opening registration for our winter programs. Below is the latest update on registration, payment options, and what you can expect moving forward.

Winter Program Registration

To get registration underway for our winter programs, we will be opening registration through Rec Desk at the Castleton Fall Festival on October 17. At this time, payments for programs with a fee will be accepted by cash or check only.

Our winter programs include:

K–2 Basketball Clinic

Boys Basketball (Grades 3–4)

Girls Basketball (Grades 3–4)

Learn to Ski/Snowboard

You can also register online now for indoor walking and sign up to volunteer coach basketball.

Payment Options Coming Soon

We are still working to get our online payment processor up and running. Once it is available, you will be able to register for programs and reserve facilities using the following payment options:

Online or over the phone: Credit or debit card (a processing fee will apply).

In person: Credit or debit card (a processing fee will apply), cash, or check.

We will notify the community as soon as online credit and debit card payments become available. In the meantime, we appreciate your patience as we work to make the registration and payment process as convenient as possible.

Schools out early! Join Vermont State University Castleton Students for an afternoon full of fun! Activities include kickball, arts and crafts, and more! Students grades 3-6. All abilities welcome
Transportation from the schools to the rec center is not included.

Castleton Parks and Recreation October 2026 Update

We have had a busy month of September and wanted to provide a few updates.

Rec Desk, our new registration platform is up and running on a limited basis. Right now, you can create accounts at https://castleton.recdesk.com and register for free programs. We are finalizing the payment processor so that we can take credit and debit cards online, in person, or over the phone. Once we can take payment, we will be launching winter programs that will start in December, including youth basketball


Indoor walking will resume on October 5 at the Castleton Recreation and Activity Center. It will start at 8:00 AM Monday through Friday, and end time will depend on the number of people in that show up. Schedule is subject to change and will be updated at https://castleton.recdesk.com and our page. Please use Rec Cesk to sign up. If there is no registration for a given day, or the pre-registered people do not show up, we will cancel
We are working on getting evening and weekend walking, as well as open gym basketball up and going. More details soon!

Once up and going, Rec Desk will be our hub for registration, facility reservation, and updates. It will also have a public calendar. If you have a public event that you would like to publish, we can add it to the calendrer, we will just need name of event, location, date, time, and another other information

We are two weeks away from the Castleton Fall Festival with Castleton Parks and Recreation and Northern Altitude. Join us on October 17th from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM at Castleton Dewey Field, 164 N Rd, Castleton, VT 05735. There will be touch a truck, trunk or treat, vendors, food, and more. Friends of Castleton Parks and Recreation is hosting a Raffle with the prize being tickets to watch the Boston Celtics vs Detroit Pistons and a night at the Courtyard Marriott just across the street from the TD Garden on December 20, 2026.
