Government shutdowns hit real people; families, federal workers, neighbors, and loved ones.
In Wyoming Department of Family Services’ most recent fiscal year, an average of 28,364 Wyomingites received Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits.
Of those recipients:
• 44 % were children age 17 and under.

With a shutdown in effect and funding uncertain, that means fewer resources for local families who count on these programs to keep food on the table and heat in the home.
