Facebook asks "Whats On Your Mind?"

Well, for one, I can't sleep tonight. For another I am thinking about how really messed up this world is getting. Apparently another new variant is on its way out of South Africa, as if Delta isn't bad enough already. Initially it was being being called "Nu" but the latest news reports I've read its going to be called "Omicron". Supposedly more transmissible than Delta and possibly more dangerous due to the large number of new mutations in the Virus.

At the pace of current death rates we're likely to hit at least 800,000 deaths by Christmas. Merry F**king Christmas ya'all.
The sad thing is so many of these deaths could have been easily avoided by simple methods such as wearing masks. So simple, so easy.

You can't wait for government and politicians to do or say the right things. Granted, its been much better under the Biden Administration when compared to the totally irresponsible clown show the Trump Administration engaged in but its far from what is needed to stop this pandemic. For instance the CDC last summer saying masks weren't needed during the lull before Delta hit. Bone headed stupid.

Without proper government action to stop this pandemic the burden falls on every citizen to do their part. There's no "magic" here. The rules are simple:

1. Wear a proper fitting N95 or KN95 mask. No loose fitting "chin diapers" that leave your nose and mouth exposed. No scarfs, no bandanas, no shirt collars etc. A real mask. Insist any one coming in contact with you wears one.

2. Practice social distancing inside and outside. Keep the distance at the advised 6 feet.

3 Get fully vaccinated and stay up with any "boosters" that are released.

Its really up to each individual to do their part in ending this situation so we can ALL go back to normal.

To ALL my musician friends.

I have chosen not to return to live performance. In my opinion the issues are just too dangerous especially given the number of people who refuse to do the above simple list of preventative measures to reduce the danger. That's my personal decision and at my age and the length of time this might go on I know it might mean me never being able to return to live performance. I hate that fact.

On the other hand you that are still going out and performing live can do better. If you're performing live and NOT wearing a mask you are not only endangering yourself you're endangering every one around you. Your band mates, your audience. There is only ONE reason for you not wearing a mask on stage. You are the one do the singing. Even then it should be around your neck and return to where it belongs when you're not actually singing. Same for harp players, horn players etc.

Unless you and everyone on that stage and everyone in the audience was tested shortly before the performance there's no guarantee that you or they are virus free. Even then you should still be wearing a mask. By doing this you set an example for your audience who should also all be wearing masks. If you're not doing this you are only contributing to the problem not the solution.

Until we ALL start doing this and start insisting that everyone around us does this we're likely to see this pandemic continue.....for many years to come. With that comes the continuing useless deaths of people we love and care about as well as a growing number of people, while still alive, having their health ruined for the rest of their lives.

Remember.......the "Black Death" went on for centuries. This won't be "over" until deaths from this virus drop to zero. Since its obvious government won't do the right thing lets all do our part to bring this pandemic to a much earlier end than the time it took to end the "Black Death".

The last Jam at the Crow event was back in March 2020 just as the Covid Pandemic was kicking into gear in this country. It has been a year and a half since then. At this point I don't see in the foreseeable future the ability to continue promoting or hosting an event like this.

While I have numerous musician friends out doing gigs and hosting Jams I personally feel that live performance during a period of time where the pandemic is still in full swing is counter productive to each of us doing our bit to end this thing completely so all of us, audience and musicians, can resume live performance safely.

Each time we perform we are creating the potential for our very own super spreader event especially given the number of selfish people who have thus far refused to get themselves vaccinated.

To all of you who have supported and participated in the Jam at the Crow over the years we were able to run the event.....THANK YOU. I hope things change and I can once again sometime in the future host such an event.

Peace and out.....

Normally about this time of the month I would be announcing the next "Jam at the Crow". Unfortunately events have taken the world in a direction that won't allow for a live event such as a Jam session. Based on current events and the current lack of a vaccine for this virus the future looks pretty bleak for live music events at this time. I doubt RedHouse will be able to perform anytime in the foreseeable future. Music fans please do what you can to support the musicians you care about. Some have online music you can purchase. Consider helping them out by buying some of their original music that might be available online. Also please give some support to your favorite music venues. They are all struggling to survive during this pandemic. Some are doing take out orders. I know for instance that the Club Crow is doing this. Please give them some love and help them survive this period of stay at home. All of you PLEASE stay safe. Lets make it so none of us catch this so that we can all get together down the road after a vaccine makes it safe for all of us and when the world returns to normal. I know that future back to normal party will go down as the biggest celebration the world has seen and I want ALL of us to be there and no one to miss it.

Notice to all fans of Jam at the Crow:

Due to the current situation with the Coronavirus Pandemic the April 5 2020 Jam at the Crow is officially canceled.

Two members of RedHouse have wives that have Asthma and we cannot take a chance on any accidental contact infection of this virus which can be especially deadly to both older people and those with pre-existing health issues.

Additionally, we can't in all good conscience adopt a approach of not worrying about the consequences of performing live and promoting the gathering of people into what could be a possibly dangerous situation of potentially sharing this virus between audience and band members.

We hope that things will get back to normal soon. We will update you each month as to the status of the Jam at the Crow as the situation changes.

Thank you all and may you and your loved be safe in these crazy times.

So as bad as the roads and weather were last Sunday I did not expect that anyone would show up for the Jam At The Crow. Much to my surprise a few dedicated players showed up to show their love of music and actual supporting of Live Music in this valley. Many thanks to Mike Haley, Jake Henson, Tomasz Cibicki, Brian Bohman, and Doug Anderson. Also thanks to Doug for videoing some of the festivities that night. This video features Doug on drums, Mike Haley on Bass, and myself on guitar/vocal doing "A Whiter Shade Of Pale" by Procol Harum. Video by Doug Anderson.
