I'm Meredith (Gutowski) Morehouse, an international environmental specialist who's dedicated 20 years to conserving migratory birds and their habitats throughout North, Central, and South America. And still g

oing... I'm also a stained glass artist, and originally created the abstract designs featured on this page for that craft. However, my husband and fellow artist (and ornithologist) Keith encouraged me to bring them to the canvas as well. My abstract designs are inspired by how instantly recognizable certain bird species can be, even with only a fleeting glimpse. What key features... colors... patterns... are our eyes and brain registering in that instant? As an artist, isolating those characteristics is one challenge; the other is condensing them into a design that both easily reveals itself to the savvy birder *and* offers an engaging pattern to the nonbirder. We hope you fall in love with these unique migratory bird designs, and share them with your art- and bird-loving friends, family, and colleagues. The more you all celebrate these amazing birds with your purchases, the more (and more) of our proceeds we're able to donate to conservation efforts.
