Studying plane shifts as we experiment with conte crayons, grasp color theory and blending techniques while using acrylics, all while working on portraits beyond a simple outline with students over the past week!

Water-soluble graphite is always a fun medium in the classroom! ✏️💧 Think of it as a grayscale watercolor—all the beauty of watercolor, but with graphite!

In just one hour, these students explored value scales and learned how light and shadow create form and bring a drawing to life, all while creating beautiful animal portraits they can be proud of!

So much learning packed into one lesson—and some pretty amazing artwork to show for it! 🖤 Great job, artists!

Check out these incredible pieces by Sandra Sylte! Each of these successfully passed ROUND #1 of the juried process for the upcoming Arizona State Fair! Sandra has been one of our adult students with us for a few years now and what a journey it’s been to watch her find her voice, explore every medium to its maximum potential and really begin to develop her own style! This will be her first exhibition of this caliber and we couldn’t be more proud of her 🥹!

🎨 2️⃣0️⃣2️⃣ 𝗦𝗧𝗔𝗧𝗘 𝗙𝗔𝗜𝗥 𝗘𝗡𝗧𝗥𝗜𝗘𝗦!!! 🎨

I’m not sure we’ve fully wrapped our heads around this number yet… 🥹

𝗧𝗪𝗢 𝗛𝗨𝗡𝗗𝗥𝗘𝗗 𝗔𝗡𝗗 𝗧𝗪𝗢 works of art created by 𝟲𝟰 𝗜𝗡𝗗𝗜𝗩𝗜𝗗𝗨𝗔𝗟 𝗬𝗢𝗨𝗧𝗛 𝗔𝗥𝗧𝗜𝗦𝗧𝗦 have officially been submitted to the 2026 Arizona State Fair! 🤯🙌

And maybe our favorite part?

❤️ 𝗣𝗿𝗲-𝗞 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝟭𝟮𝘁𝗵 𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗲 — 𝗘𝗩𝗘𝗥𝗬. 𝗦𝗜𝗡𝗚𝗟𝗘. 𝗚𝗥𝗔𝗗𝗘. 𝗜𝗦. 𝗥𝗘𝗣𝗥𝗘𝗦𝗘𝗡𝗧𝗘𝗗!

And that 202 doesn’t even include the additional entries submitted by our 𝗔𝗗𝗨𝗟𝗧 students! 🎨

This is officially our 𝗟𝗔𝗥𝗚𝗘𝗦𝗧 𝗦𝗧𝗔𝗧𝗘 𝗙𝗔𝗜𝗥 𝗦𝗨𝗕𝗠𝗜𝗦𝗦𝗜𝗢𝗡 𝗘𝗩𝗘𝗥!

Last year, nearly half of our 40+ State Fair entries earned 1st Place ribbons, and every student entry we located placed in the Top 10 of its division/class. Then at the Pinal County Fair, our students earned 𝟵 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝟭𝟬 𝗕𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗖𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘀 𝗮𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘀 and 𝟲𝟬 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁-𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗿𝗶𝗯𝗯𝗼𝗻𝘀 from 150 current-student entries! 🏆

But before a single ribbon is awarded this year, we’re already celebrating! 🙌

Because 202 entries means 𝟮𝟬𝟮 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝗮 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝘀𝘁 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗲𝗻𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝗮𝘆, “𝗬𝗲𝘀. 𝗜 𝘄𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝗲𝗲 𝗺𝘆 𝗮𝗿𝘁.” 🥹💜

From our tiniest Pre-K artists to our graduating seniors (and adult artists too) — 𝗪𝗘 𝗔𝗥𝗘 𝗦𝗢 𝗣𝗥𝗢𝗨𝗗 𝗢𝗙 𝗬𝗢𝗨!

𝗛𝗘𝗥𝗘 𝗪𝗘 𝗖𝗢𝗠𝗘, 𝗔𝗥𝗜𝗭𝗢𝗡𝗔 𝗦𝗧𝗔𝗧𝗘 𝗙𝗔𝗜𝗥! 🌵⭐️🎨

𝗟𝗘𝗧’𝗦 𝗚𝗢, 𝗔𝗥𝗧𝗜𝗦𝗧𝗦!!! 🙌

✨ 𝟮𝟬𝟮 𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀. 𝟲𝟰 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝘀𝘁𝘀. 𝗣𝗿𝗲-𝗞 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝟭𝟮𝘁𝗵. 𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗱. 𝗣𝗟𝗨𝗦 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗮𝗱𝘂𝗹𝘁 𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝘀𝘁𝘀. 𝙊𝙣𝙚 𝙞𝙣𝙘𝙧𝙚𝙙𝙞𝙗𝙡𝙚 𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙢𝙪𝙣𝙞𝙩𝙮 𝙤𝙛 𝙖𝙧𝙩𝙞𝙨𝙩𝙨 𝘼𝙉𝘿 𝙖 𝙬𝙝𝙤𝙡𝙚 𝙡𝙤𝙩 𝙤𝙛 𝙒𝙊𝙉𝘿𝙀𝙍! ✨
