It’s a devastating day. Clay’s Lucky chicken has passed away from old age. From the day the Town of Cary brought her to us all bloody and banged up from her chicken nugget truck escape, to the day our daughter painted her eggs at Easter, she was loved. The feed store would laugh when Clay would go to get all her supplies and ask “how many chickens do you have?” “One!” Hahaha. I remember our USDA lady said she was too old to ever lay eggs… and then she did for 3 years. She loved fighting our rehab squirrels for their nuts and waiting for treats by the back window and door. She went to many education events with us but the best one was her last, where she was cuddled like a therapy chicken at a bird show for people with dementia. She’s being buried in her favorite spot where she is in one of these pictures. From the wise words of Evelyn; “She didn’t become a nugget!” We will miss you Lucky, so very much. A chicken was never more Lucky than you, girl! 💔😭
