Guest Artist Announcement ✨

We’re thrilled to welcome Oliver Oguma back to Cary Ballet as a guest artist for our 2026 Winter Intensive!
At the 2026 YAGP Semi-Finals, Oliver won the Outstanding Choreographer Award for The Groove, which he created for CBC’s Senior Ensemble. The piece also took first place in its category. This December, he’s back in our studios, this time teaching contemporary.
Oliver is now in his 5th season with Charlotte Ballet. He was born and raised in New York City, grew up as a hip-hop dancer and Ford model, and began ballet at age 8. He trained at The School of American Ballet, the JKO School at ABT, The Rock School, and San Francisco Ballet School, then joined ABT Studio Company. He went on to dance soloist roles and choreograph for Ballet West, and then danced with Ballet de l’Opéra national du Rhin in France. His repertoire includes works by Naharin, Kylián, Ratmansky, Balanchine, Forsythe, and many more.

⏱ About 5 hours a day of technique, pointe, contemporary, variations, repertoire, partnering, and more
✨ Led by Director Mariaelena Ruiz, with guest artists
💬 Optional private coaching for enrolled dancers, including sessions with Oliver. Slots open closer to the intensive.
