Current state of the studio: tiny paintings everywhere, brushes in every direction, and absolutely no clear surface left to work on. Apparently, this is how a collection comes together—one oddly satisfying little object at a time.

A little art with a very specific bedside manner. 🩺

I was commissioned to create this trio of healthcare minis—a syringe, stethoscope and collection of pills. I love turning familiar everyday objects into tiny original paintings, especially when they’re chosen for someone with a personal connection to the subject.

My peach branch has officially been dropped off and is waiting to be hung among its new friends at the Fine Arts League of Cary’s Still Life Art Show. 🍑

Third Friday is this week, making it the perfect time to stop by the FALC Gallery on Park Street in downtown Cary, see the show and enjoy an evening of local art.

Go say hello to my peaches—they’re much less likely to bruise than the real thing.

Painted this little 4" x 4" gourd yesterday—because apparently my brain has already decided it’s fall, regardless of what the thermometer says. I loved pulling those soft creams, warm golds and muted greens out of something that looks almost white at first glance.

Small subject. Moody background. Ready for sweater weather. 🍂

Three tiny blueberry paintings, three completely different moods. 🫐

Each original is painted by hand on a 4-inch square canvas, turning a familiar little fruit into something unexpectedly bold, quiet, and collectible. The orange, pale blue, and purple backgrounds give each piece its own personality, while the small scale makes them easy to place on a shelf, desk, gallery wall, or tucked into that oddly perfect little spot every home seems to have.

Some landscapes are less about a specific place than the memory of one.

Built through layers of blue, gray, cream and charcoal, this abstract work gradually settles into the suggestion of a distant shoreline beneath a pale sky. The softened horizon and visible surface marks leave room for atmosphere and movement, creating a quiet study in texture, restraint and the pull of the coast.

An ordinary kitchen subject, treated with the attention of a formal portrait.

In this new 8 x 8 inch oil painting, Tricia Sauls pairs a freshly caught fish with the cool reflection of a metal platter and one sharp note of yellow from the lemon. The restrained palette and close composition give the small still life a quiet tension—somewhere between traditional food painting and contemporary observation.
