Seventeen years ago, photographer Adam Jahiel embarked on a mission to document buckaroo life. Thousands of images later, he says he’s still discovering the secrets of one of America’s most unique cultures.

Have you seen the latest exhibit in the Bristlecone Gallery? It’s on loan from the Armuth Hellwinkel Family Collection. Art Collectors Darrell Armuth and Donna Hellwinklel have been collecting art 2005. Their collection contains works from prominent artists from Nevada in disciplines of sculpture, painting, and photography, which also reflect their love of the region. Selections from the collection have been shown in Elko County Museum, as part of the National Cowboy Poetry 40th Gathering, Wilber May Museum, and a Nevada Arts Council traveling exhibition. Western Nevada College is grateful for the loan of the artwork from The Last Cowboy, by Adam Jahiel.

We're Official! Selections from "The Last Cowboy" and the Nevada Buckaroo event are official America250 Nevada events. This selection of artwork celebrates the American West through ranching as a unique culture within our nation. In perfect timing with the nation’s 250th year celebration of independence, this exhibit will contribute to the commemorative year, and WNC is proud to showcase it.

The Annual Carson City Student Art Show is just around the corner!

The exhibition will be on display in the Bristlecone Gallery from April 21 to May 8. A reception will be held on May 8 from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM. This event is open to the public, and light refreshments will be served.

Submissions will be accepted in the Bristlecone Gallery from April 14 to April 16. Full requirements can be found on the attached flyer.

Come see the late Robert Morrison's exhibition in WNC's Bristlecone Gallery. The exhibit reception will be Tuesday, October 22, 5-6:30pm. Join us to see his sculpture, paintings, drawings many presented for the first time!

If you can't make it to the reception be sure to swing by the gallery before the exhibition closes on December 11th. The gallery hours are M-F 8AM-5PM.

Please join the Bristlecone Gallery and Capital City Arts Initiative tonight from 5pm-6:30pm in celebrating Ruby Barrientos exhibition, Raíces (Roots).

Ruby is a first-generation Salvadoran American artist born and raised in Reno, NV, and is a self-taught/independent visual artist who shows art in galleries and museums locally. Ruby is an “artivist” utilizing an artistic voice coined as Nuwave Mayan, a style that incorporates Barrientos’ Salvadoran Mayan ancestry and heritage in the creation of socially relevant work.

Mark Salinas wrote the essay, ‘Altared’ Perspectives, for the exhibition. Salinas is the Public Art Program Manager for the City of Berkeley, California, and is responsible for the municipal development and implementation of public art policies, procedures, and programming.
