We are honored to present Recognition: Contemporary Lumbee Art, a special exhibition celebrating the Lumbee people and their historic recognition as the 575th federally recognized Tribe.
Featuring the work of Karina McMillan, Christopher Kennedy, James D. Malcolm, Jesalyn Keziah, and Ariana Chavis, the exhibition explores ancestry, land, culture, identity, and the enduring creative traditions of the Lumbee people.
FRANK Board Vice Chair and Lumbee artist Danny Bell helped curator Luna Lee Ray bring this special exhibition to FRANK. As Danny writes, the work “bridges an ancestral past with a sovereign future,” celebrating the Lumbee’s sovereignty, endurance, and cultural survival.
Exhibit on view August 18–September 26, alongside our Featured Artists Exhibit.

We’re thrilled to welcome Ivana Beck back to FRANK!
Born in Serbia and now living in the United States, Ivana’s sculptures explore the women in her family—her grandmother, mother, daughter, and herself—and the resilience and strength passed from one generation to the next.
Through the female form, Ivana finds parallels between the strength of women and the structural foundations that hold us up.
Come see her work and celebrate with us at the opening reception!

We’re so excited to celebrate FRANK’s Emerging Artist Julia Nagle as she culminates her time in our Emerging Artist Program with her first Featured Artists show!
In Fly-Over, Julia transforms the landscapes seen from airplane windows into abstract compositions of color, pattern, infrastructure, and vegetation. Inspired by the places she photographs from above, her paintings capture those fleeting views and invite us to savor them a little longer.
Come celebrate this exciting milestone with Julia and soak in the beauty of her landscapes!

For Featured Artist R. Scott Horner, the human form is less something to represent than something to react to.
In Bodies at Rest, Horner explores the instinctive ways we find bodies within shapes, values, and lines. Inspired by his earlier work exploring the concept of “self,” these paintings focus on the body at rest, free from context.
We’re delighted to share this thoughtful new body of work by FRANK member artist R. Scott Horner. Opening Reception: Friday, August 21 | 6–9 PM
