Wow, I can’t believe it’s already time for the first part of the Carney Round Up Rodeo Queen competition! Helping out today, I must admit, made me a bit sad that my reign is coming to an end, but listening to and getting to know all the lovely ladies running this year, I have no doubt Carney will be in great hands for the 2026 year! Get to know your 2025 Carney Roundup Rodeo Queen Shaylyn Porath!

What made you decided to run for rodeo queen?

~ I decided to run for the CRR queen because I wanted to bring as much fun, joy, and knowledge to my younger competitors and spectators as I had when I first ran for the lil miss title back in 2015. I will always remember the fun I had during that year because of what an amazing group I had and I really wanted to do the same for some special young ladies.

What has been your favorite memory being rodeo Queen?

~ My favorite memory of being a rodeo queen has got to be the first time I got to put on the carney roundup rodeo chaps and carry the American flag. This was the moment that it all sunk in that all the hard work paid off.

What is one piece of advice you would give to someone who wants to run for rodeo Queen?

~ One piece of advice I would give to someone who wants to run for rodeo queen or is this upcoming year is always be yourself. When the chaps crown and belt buckle are off you're still the same person as you are with them on so always remember who you are don’t change yourself.

What are your career goals?

~ My career goal is to become an attorney. This has always been something I have been interested in but I really started to think about it when I took my first debate class and found out I really enjoyed it. Since then I have taken two classes in this field and I can’t wait to take more this next school year.

What’s your horses name?

~ I have three amazing horses. My oldest horse is 23 this year and her name is Princess. She has done everything under the sun from roping, queening, and even speed when I was younger. My next horse is going to be 10 this year. Her name is cricket. She is a barrel horse through and through. She is a very special horse to me because she is the horse that made all my dreams come true. She won many belt buckles over the years and truly made me a better rider. My last horse is going to be 5 this year. Her name is Junie bug aka Junie. Junie was a very unexpected buy but in my opinion a must have. She is the half sister to my horse cricket and as soon as I saw her I knew there was something special. Last but not least even though she is not a horse, our donkey buttons. She is a mini Sicilian and she is definitely something special. I truly don’t think there has ever been a time she has been in her pen or where she is supposed to be but we love her.

Who is your role model?

~ If I had to pick who my role model would be I don’t think I could pick just one. I would have to say Hailey Kinsel and JB mauney

Get to know your 2025 Carney Roundup Rodeo Princess Ruth lemens!

What made you decide to run for Rodeo Princess?

~I decided to run for Rodeo Princess because I’ve been inspired by rodeos since I was young. I started doing fun shows and I was hooked, but I wanted the next step to be rodeo. When I was told about the opportunity, I was so excited to run for Rodeo Princess!

What has been your favorite memory being rodeo Princess?

~ My favorite memory being rodeo Princess was when I got to represent at my hometown rodeo. I said that I wanted to make Wisconsin more aware of the Carney Rodeo. When I got to represent at the Brown County Rodeo, a rodeo I’ve been going to for so long, I got to proudly where the sash and show what a rodeo Princess does. It was an amazing experience!

What is one piece of advice you would give to someone who wants to run for Rodeo Princess?

~ One piece of advice for someone who wants to run for rodeo Princess would be to use the advice you’re given to improve. It is easier to just give up, but don’t. Use what you’re told to improve and become the best you can be.

What are your future goals?

~ My future goals are to become the best I can be, in the Rodeo and in my future. I want to run for a Rodeo Queen title and continue to bring more of it to Wisconsin. I also want to work and grow in my family businesses and have my career in that.

What’s your horses name?

~ My horses name is Daisy. Although, you can’t forget about my first horse I ran with Tucker.😊

Who is your role model?

~ My role model is my mom because I want to work hard so when I have kids I can do what she did. My brothers ride horses sometimes, but I’m the one who wanted to drive two hours to run for rodeo Princess and go to barrel races. She took the chance with me and she has and will continue to help me become the best I can be.
