Today was our first Public Speaking class, and we have a very interesting group of kids — each with a unique personality!
Very often, children don’t really know what they were signed up for. Most of the time, it is their parents’ decision, and some children may not even want to be there at first. What they don’t yet realize is how important public speaking will be throughout their lives — and how lucky they are to start developing these skills early!
When children practice public speaking while they are still in school, they train themselves to express their ideas clearly, manage nervousness, think on their feet, and feel comfortable speaking in front of others.
Today, we discussed the benefits of public speaking and what every effective speaker should know. And, of course, we practiced what I always teach during the first lesson: how to introduce yourself to another person and make good eye contact!
We hope they left the class feeling inspired!
