The CSO's own Principal Bass Trombonist, Rich Dole, will lead a jazz ensemble for the event.

The Standard(ish) Small Group Jazz ensemble plays music slightly "off center" when compared to other small group jazz ensembles. With different instrumentations and creative original arrangements, the Standard(ish) Group brings a different perspective to what one might expect from a "standard" jazz gig!"

Carmel Symphony Orchestra League Luncheon features Opera Cabaret

The afternoon will feature a silent auction and a delicious luncheon all elevated by a musical performance by members of the Indianapolis Opera.

DATE: Tuesday, October 20th
TIME: Doors open at 10:30 a.m. Lunch served 11:15 a.m.
LOCATION: Woodland Country Club

The CSO League brings together people who love music and want to support the Carmel Symphony Orchestra. Through volunteer, educational and financial support, League members help bring music to the community while making friends and enjoying the camaraderie of others who share their passion for the orchestra.

🎼 Happy Birthday, Leonard Bernstein! 🎉

Today we celebrate the birthday of Leonard Bernstein, one of the most influential and versatile American composers of the 20th century.

Bernstein had an extraordinary ability to bring together the worlds of classical music, Broadway, jazz, and popular music. His compositions were filled with energy, emotion, unforgettable melodies, and a distinctly American sound.

Perhaps his most famous work, West Side Story, gave us iconic music including “Maria,” “Tonight,” and “Somewhere.” But Bernstein’s remarkable body of work reached far beyond Broadway. He composed symphonies, ballets, operas, chamber music, film scores, and concert works—including Candide, On the Town, and his powerful Chichester Psalms.

Bernstein believed deeply in music’s ability to communicate, connect people, and tell meaningful stories. Decades later, his compositions continue to challenge musicians, inspire audiences, and fill concert halls around the world.

Today, we celebrate a composer whose music helped shape the American musical landscape—and whose creative voice continues to resonate with generations of musicians and music lovers. 🎻🎺🎶

🎶 Welcome Back to School! 📚✏️

Wishing all of our students, teachers, administrators, and families a wonderful start to the new school year!

There’s something special about the beginning of a new school year—new classrooms, new friendships, new opportunities, and new experiences waiting just around the corner. And for so many students, some of those most meaningful experiences will happen through MUSIC. 🎻🎺🥁🎹

Music education is such an important part of a well-rounded education. It gives students an opportunity to be creative, build confidence, learn discipline, work together as a team, and experience the joy that comes from creating something beautiful with others.

For some students, this will be the year they pick up an instrument for the very first time. Others will return to band, orchestra, or choir ready to take the next step in their musical journey. Those experiences can create friendships, memories, and a love of music that lasts a lifetime.

We are incredibly thankful for the dedicated music educators who encourage, challenge, and inspire young musicians every day—and for the families and communities who continue to support music and the arts in our schools.

Here’s to an amazing school year filled with learning, growth, creativity, friendship, and plenty of music! 🎶

The CSO is pleased to announce that Music Matters (formerly Sounds Exciting) is returning to the Palladium on Wednesday, October 28, 2026.

Where: The Payne & Mencias Palladium at Allied Solutions Center for the Performing Arts

When: Wednesday, October 28, 2026

Time: 10:00 a.m. & 11:45 a.m.

Who: Open to Students and Teachers of Public and Private Schools as well as Homeschoolers.

What: 45-minute interactive concert of classical favorites perfect for introducing students to the world of instruments and classical music! This program is geared toward 5th grade students as they prepare for instrument try-ons for 6th grade beginner band and orchestra.
(Homeschool families may bring older or younger siblings who can sit through a 45-minute performance.)

An educational guide will be provided to teachers to use in lesson plans leading up to the concert.

Cost: FREE! Just arrange transportation for your group
