Step inside one of Big Sur’s most extraordinary hidden treasures.

The 2026 Carmel Bach Festival Gala Auction offers a rare opportunity to visit the mountain home and studio of artist Emile Norman, perched high above the Pacific Ocean. Guests will enjoy a private tour of the property, an intimate organ recital by Principal Keyboards Andrew Arthur on Norman’s magnificent custom-built organ, and a wine reception featuring local cuisine.

A lifelong friend and supporter of the Festival, Emile infused every corner of his home with artistry—from intricate woodwork and stained glass to the breathtaking organ that serves as the heart of the space.

This exclusive experience is now available for presale to the general public.

The Carmel Bach Festival is thrilled to partner with the Monterey Audubon Society to bring this season’s theme, the nature of sound, to life.

This week, we joined local bird experts for a morning of birdwatching in Carmel and learned more about the incredible birds that inspire our region’s natural soundtrack.

Curated by Angélica Negrón in line with the Festival’s theme, this program focuses on the nature of sound itself. The program unfolds as an immersive experience— blurring boundaries between acoustic and electronic sound, individual and collective voice, memory and environment. The use of strings, voices, and electronics reflects Negrón’s broader work, where sound is treated as a flexible material shaped by space, texture, and listening.

We’re thrilled to announce a special collaboration with Carmel Dance Festival!

This summer, movement meets music in a powerful new way. As part of Haydn’s The Seasons, we welcome dancers Babatunji Johnson and Natalie Leibert to the stage for Muohta – Language of Snow by Nils Henrik Asheim.

While Haydn’s sweeping oratorio brings the natural world to life—birds, storms, harvests, and all—Muohta turns inward, exploring the stillness and texture of winter through sound and motion. Babatunji and Natalie’s choreography adds a striking physical dimension, shaping the narrative in real time and illuminating the emotional landscape within the music.

Dates: Saturday, July 11 & 18
