Lisa Hudson has been a friend to The Movement and the snowboarding industry for decades, so it is with a heavy heart that I post about the sudden passing of her 16yr old son, Shayne.

As the founder of Boarding for Breast Cancer, industry icon, and a dear friend, Lisa offered advice and support during fundraising efforts for Chris Brunkhart in his time of need.

I hope The Movement community can be there for Lisa and her equally amazing husband, Jack, during this tragic time in their life.

Portland, OR, fall of ’93: Snowboarding needs to outgrow neon, world titles and the ski industry. Skateboarding’s influence hasn’t even entered the scene. The stage is set for a surge of raw creativity to shock snowboarding’s culture. Matt Donahue and crew overlook the yet-to-explode city fr...

Update on the LTD 1994 M-Star reissue progress.

I re-stretched the original M-Star silkscreen stencil on a makeshift frame tonight. Dumped some ink on it and reluctantly made the first pull of the squeegee. I say reluctantly because I had no idea if this old screen could hold ink. For a split-second I thought, "what if it rips or disintegrates under my squeegee?" It was too late now, so I went ahead and made that pull. To my surprise the very first test print on paper was a success!

As I lifted the screen to reveal the print, a smile swept over my face. There was so much nuance and character to the print, ink that was left dried for 24 years in the screen, the imperfect edges of the hand-cut Rubylith stencil. I was more excited this time around then when I made the first shirt so many years ago.

I now know this screen will never last through a production run of a hundred or so shirts so instead of damaging it. I can trace the print and create a new screen to handle the demands. I had always planned on framing this screen and the reason I kept it for so many year.

So I pose this question to the group, would you rather have a new, perfect print on a shirt or a print that has some flaws and character?

Photos are of 4 total prints I made tonight before cleaning the screen.
