We are excited about this year's events, and we are honored to have the support of our community. Pride is more than a series of events; it's community, it's support. Pride gives people a space to exist without being judged, to learn more about others' experiences, and to support friends, family, and colleagues. Pride helps us reflect on how far we've come, from decriminalization to marriage equality to legal protections. We also acknowledge how much work is left to be done. Many of us are able to live openly with friends and family, but that's not the reality for everyone. Pride events are a small portion of what Pride stands for. We envision a world where LGBTQ+ people can live freely and openly without fear of being disowned by friends and family, without fear of discrimination at work, without their rights being debated, and with access to competent and knowledgeable healthcare. If you've ever wondered why Pride is important, these are just a few of the reasons. We hope that this Pride Month, we help bring joy to our community, increase visibility, and offer space for people to exist peacefully.
This year's festivities will kick off June 6, featuring returning events like the Pride Proclamation, family movie night, a drag show and a pool party.
