A Hard Place To Get To !
Havasupai Falls and Turquoise Pools
Watercolor Painting 17" x 11" by artist Ken Moore
Havasupai is one of the most beautiful places on earth. Deep in the crevices of the Grand Canyon within the Havasupai Indian Reservation, you’ll find a hidden verdant oasis of aqua-blue waterfalls and thick groves of trees. To reach Havasupai, you will need to obtain a permit and be prepared for a 20-mile multi-day backpacking trip. It takes some effort, but it is more than worth it!
People underestimate the logistics, the physical demand of the trail, and the reservation system. The result can be a cancelled plan, a dangerous hike in extreme heat, or arrival without required permits.
The Havasupai tribe grants roughly 100 permits per day. Up to 30,000 people visit Havasupai Falls each year.

I painted this trying to depict the moment a narrow cascade becomes a white ribbon against weathered cliffs. I wanted the contrast between the cool fall of water and the warm, textured rock to read clearly, so I used layered washes and loose brushwork to suggest movement without over-defining every detail.
Which season does this feel like to you — spring thaw or late summer flow? Give it one word and I'll use the most popular answer as the title. I also have prints and the original available — I can see this bringing a quiet, natural energy to a living room or study.
This luminous landscape painting presents a tall waterfall spilling between weathered cliffs into a tranquil pool. Soft washes of blue and green sit against warm ochre and charcoal accents, while confident brushwork defines foliage and rocky textures. The composition balances quiet calm with vertical energy, making the scene feel both restorative and alive. Ideal as a striking focal point for a living room, study, or entryway.
