Mountain Fair began with a simple idea: when a community comes together, amazing things can happen. 55 years later, that spirit is still at the heart of everything we do✨. Every stage, every booth, every unforgettable moment is made possible by volunteers who come together each summer to create something bigger than themselves.

Whether you're a longtime Fair fanatic or a first-time volunteer, there's a place for you. Join the crew of generations of neighbors, friends, and families who have helped make Mountain Fair one of Carbondale's most cherished traditions. Meet great people, give back, and help throw Carbondale's favorite party.

In addition to the overall Mountain Fair theme of "Camp Bonedale," the supervisor crew enjoys having daily themes as well, for some dress up inspo, and mostly to keep the Fair vibrant and light-hearted. To make sure there is plenty of time to coordinate your Fair's finest, we’re sharing the daily themes early.

🌸🌱Friday: Camp Crafts | Make a costume inspired by classic camp crafts: stick crowns, hand and leaf paintings, friendship bracelets, painted rocks, nature weavings, etc.

👒👠Saturday: Camp Couture | Think Troop Beverly Hills meets Moonlight Kingdom. The aesthetic is sashes, vests, khaki, cargo—but make it fashion.

🌀Sunday: Tie Dye | The obvious uniform of Camp Carbondale. The only question is: how much tie dye is too much tie dye?

Most importantly though, be yourself and dress comfortably. Let's make the Fair lively, kind, and colorful (per usual).

"Mellie Test is a local visual, movement, and oracle artist whose work abounds in color and energy. She's currently working on a new series of hand-printed, hand-embellished artwork titles "Magic Over Mayhem," featuring unicorns battling dumpster fires. She's also been offering in-person "Oracle Art" sessions, where she creates artwork intuitively in response to audience queries and delivers messages, similar to a tarot or oracle card reading."

Today right out front of The Launchpad from 10am-3pm.

The 55th Annual Mountain Fair is coming up! Always the last full weekend of July, we'll be gathering in Sopris Park and the heart of downtown July 24-26,2026.

With great delight we share the winning design by Colorado visual artist and tattooer Rowan Brown. Formally trained in traditional tattooing, she developed a strong foundation in design and composition. While her artistic education has been largely self-directed outside of tattooing, Rowan credits her apprenticeship with providing an unexpected depth of creative and technical knowledge.

Raised in Santa Fe, New Mexico, Rowan draws inspiration from the landscapes and culture of the Four Corners region. Her love of art began early, encouraged by her mother and shaped through a passion for drawing and painting. Alongside her tattoo work, Rowan continues to explore new creative avenues.

The theme for the Fair this year is "Camp Bonedale" an ode to all who have created community and a foundational ethos by contributing to this beloved event for the past 55 years. 💖

Thanks to for your ongoing creative direction for the poster each year.
