This afternoon, Bedell is stepping into the glow of Frisson Christmas at Bedell, and trust me. This is the one concert of the season you cannot let slip by.

At 3pm, the hall will come alive with some of the most radiant, heart-stirring string players in the world. It’s the kind of music that wraps around you like a soft blanket and whisper-sings, “Yes, sweetheart, it’s finally Christmas.”

And who knows… you might just catch a little Mariah Carey moment drifting through the air. 🎶😉

What better way to spend a Sunday afternoon than with Mozart and Schumann? An afternoon of piano quartets performed by some of our very own string faculty, Dr. Patrick Hopkins and Professor Eva Dove, joined by guest pianist Marika Bournaki and guest violist Ela Tolarska. (Also featuring a little string breaking action) 🎻 This remarkable chamber ensemble captivated us with their technical brilliance and deep musicality, offering a timeless reminder of why we make music in the first place.

🎶 SESO Student Spotlight: Dyllan Day — 2nd Chair Horn 🎶

Meet Dyllan Day, a junior Music Education major here at SEMO and a proud member of the Southeast Symphony Orchestra for five semesters! 🌟

“Hi! My name is Dyllan and I am a junior music education major here at SEMO! This is my 5th semester playing in the SESO, and I’ve been playing mostly second horn in my time. Something that stands out to me about this ensemble is the range of repertoire that we get to play through. We’ve done pops concerts with Star Wars and Harry Potter, while also performing classical works like Mozart masses and everything in between. Before SEMO, I never had the opportunity to play in an orchestral setting, and now I’ve been playing in one every week for almost 3 years! Being in an undergrad program that allows me to play in multiple different ensembles gives me a healthy challenge and has helped me grow as a professional musician — and the orchestra program especially has done that exceedingly well!”

We’re so proud to have passionate and dedicated musicians like Dyllan in our ensemble.
