If Ken Pomeroy isn’t already on your radar, she should be.

The Oklahoma singer-songwriter has been building a beautiful lane in contemporary folk and Americana, and this year she was named Emerging Act of the Year at the Americana Honors & Awards.

Her album Cruel Joke came out on Rounder Records in 2025, and she followed it this August with Tonight’s News, a six-song collection recorded live in one day at Wilco’s Chicago loft.

The van was packed.
The guitar was riding sh***un.
Tonight’s show was three hours away.

Everything was going according to plan…

Until the car started making that sound.

A mechanic in a town he had never visited delivered the bad news:

“It’ll take two days to fix.”

There was no way he would make tonight’s gig.

He made the call every touring artist hates to make.

“I’m sorry. I have to cancel.”

Now he was stranded.

No show.

And a repair bill he definitely had not planned for.

Then he had an idea.

“What if I could find somewhere to play here tonight?”
