🔴 MEASLES ALERT: Know the Symptoms. Protect Your Family.
Measles is a highly contagious virus that spreads through the air when an infected person coughs or sneezes. The virus can remain in the air for up to 2 hours after an infected person leaves an area.
Know the signs and symptoms:
• High fever (sometimes over 104°F)
• Cough
• Runny nose
• Red or watery eyes
• Rash that typically appears 3–5 days after symptoms begin
Symptoms usually appear 7–14 days after exposure.
Measles can cause serious complications, including pneumonia, brain swelling, and even death, particularly in young children.
Protect yourself and others:
✅ Make sure you and your family are up to date on the measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) vaccine.
✅ If you think you may have measles, stay home and avoid contact with others.
✅ Call your healthcare provider BEFORE visiting a clinic, urgent care, or emergency department so precautions can be taken to prevent further spread.
The MMR vaccine is the best way to protect against measles.
