The Bowers House Writers' Retreat

The Bowers House Writers' Retreat Constructed in the early 1920s as a hotel and restored in 1997, There are seven private rooms and the house can accommodate up to twelve overnight guests.

Nestled in the historical district of a sleepy north Georgia town, the house affords visiting writers a rare commodity β€” the tranquility and space to work and create. Centrally located within 40 minutes from the University of Georgia and Clemson, the Bowers House Writers Retreat and history hotel is a lodging facility in a small northeast Georgia town that has gained new life as a place of peace a

nd solitude for working writers and literary functions. Generally, there are one or two writers in residence, however, there are certain opportunities to use the property exclusively, and several workshops or readings occur monthly at the facility. We also welcome visiting guests private hotel rooms and private baths for a two night minimum. We seek donations and sponsorships to bring underserved/minority/multicultural promising artists to the facility who might not otherwise have this opportunity, and conduct episodic programming of their creative output during their residency or retreat via BOWERS HOUR. We seek joint venture programming and retreat opportunities and customized events and residencies and work with retreat and grants housing/residency directors for artist placement and lodging. Reservations are taken by phone 954-888-8948

When your life story is recited around the campfires of heaven, you will be amazed how much of it you may have missed. The random encounter with someone whose name you cannot recall, but whose life was changed by meeting you. The one small act of kindness that you forgot, but that another family will remember for the rest of their days. The child you encouraged, the elder you visited, the cause you served: the angels around the fire will amaze you with all that you achieved and never realized it.
