For 56 years, the Contin-Tail Show has been a beloved Colorado tradition — and we can't wait to welcome you back for another one. It all started as a small trunk-and-tailgate swap meet up on Cottonwood Pass along the Continental Divide (that's where the "Contin-Tail" name comes from!). Then in 1981, after a memorable visit from a local bear, the show found its permanent home at the Buena Vista Rodeo Grounds, where it's proudly stayed for the past 44 years.
Each year around the second weekend of August, the Rodeo Grounds come alive with miners, collectors, buyers, sellers, lapidarists, and mineral enthusiasts from across the country and around the world — all gathering to connect, trade, and share their passion for the earth's treasures.
You'll find rough specimens, slabs, cut and polished cabochons, handcrafted jewelry, and so much more in this vibrant marketplace.
