Yeah, its been awhile but thats what warmer temps and spring cleanup necessities do to you. BUT, I did find the time to stitch this future wall hanging out on cork fabric using the 2021 March edition of AGD - “Setting Sail”. This particular design is 11.5” x 7.7”. I added fusible stabilizer to muslin, then hooped cork fabric within my magnetic sash hoop. Why?! Because the design is over 91,000 stitches and 30 thread changes. Two of the threads (flags) were metallic! Oh I forgot to mention I also used leather for the hull of the ship. Gives it a 3-D look and feel. There is a larger design (15.3x10.3”) but I don’t have access to the Solaris or Luminaire at the moment. My 10-needle had no issues. Thanks for listening! R

Good morning 2021! We’ve always imposed a cut off of bad behavior or made “resolutions”... to lose weight, get out of debt, exercise more, stop smoking, eat better, etc. Through these we hope to be a better person or at least feel better about ourselves. Being realistic is not necessarily a resolution more than its a hopeful plan. I personally stopped making promises to myself I couldn’t keep. With that said, I am going to offer some hopeful intentions: 1) I am going to finish “unfinished” projects. 2) I am going to try to be a better sewing/embroidery instructor - especially virtually (Zoom, Streamyard, etc.). 3) Eat healthier.... okay, I threw that one in there.

Here is one for all of you...”Change your needle frequently.” Why? Here are clues:
- Skipped stitches
- Snags on fabric or is puckering
- Wiggly stitching (though you are sewing a straight line)
- Thread breaking or shredding
- Makes a thumping, popping, clicking, or clunking sound (burr catching fabric)

And always, ALWAYS use a quality thread that matches the needle to your fabric. That’s enough for now. I’ll talk about sizes of needles a little later. Happy New Year!! R

Good afternoon! I know many of you have requested information on the construction of a T-Shirt or Memory quilt and unfortunately, I cannot go Live today. {I am also hoping to have a special guest next week (Sunday) but we are still working out the details.} For now I am going to post some pics of my past projects noting differences you'll see based on the size and shape of the material presented. Some were onesies (baby garments); another was sports lycra wear; to the typical T-Shirt fabric (stretchy). A T-Shirt quilt can be anywhere from a 9-patch to 36 shirts or more depending on the size (and expense) you're looking for. You'll see some have sashing (separate borders) around each square or none. Hopefully in the near future, I will walk you through putting one together with cutting, stabilizing and piecing. Until then, take a look at the pics and note the distinct characteristics of each - no two are not exactly alike which makes your Memory quilt unique....
