"Wind Blown Pollen on the Lake Surface" Western North Carolina is ranked in the top four areas in the country for pollen allergies, something I failed to consider when I moved here and settled into a community carved out of the Pisgah National Forest. As dearly as I love this place, that emotion is tested each spring as I sneeze, as my eyes water, and as my skin itches (hell, even my thumbs itch today). Times like this I bet even Adam and Eve suffered from hay fever (although I understand that the Garden of Eden had an excellent landscaping service).

"Backyard Extravaganza"

"In the Cut" A dozen years ago this creek was a few feet wide and not more than two feet deep. Then construction on the hillside above it added about a dozen acres of impermeable surfaces: roofs, driveways, asphalt pavement. The resulting runoff scoured down to a depth of six feet before our HOA installed a series of check dams consisting of tree trunks and other woody debris placed every thirty yards or so. These have largely stabilized the erosion. Not even Hurricane Helene did much to affect the channel. Now our community leaders are taking the lesson and looking at similar solutions elsewhere in the neighborhood.

My work is being displayed in Rome next month in an invitational exhibit assembled by Blank Wall Gallery of Athens. I’m honored to have been asked to participate in this event.

Two of my photos were hung recently in a group exhibit entitled "Travel" at Blank Wall Gallery in Athens, Greece. They are "The Golden Road" and "Follow the Sun". These are the most recent of a half-dozen images displayed there over the past year. Thanks to Maria and the gallery staff.
