**What if the biggest thing keeping someone from Jesus... is the people already sitting in the pews?**
One statement from Pastor Phil Kidd has been stuck in my mind:
**As long as he’s the pastor, his church will not criticize anyone who walks through those doors.**
That hit me hard because I’ve seen the opposite with my own eyes.
I’ve watched people walk into a church searching for hope, healing, or simply a place to belong—only to be met with judgmental looks, whispers, and people acting as though they’re somehow better than everyone else. It honestly sickens me.
Too many people sitting in the pews have developed a **”holier than thou”** attitude, forgetting that every single one of us is a sinner saved by grace. The ground at the foot of the cross is level. None of us earned our seat there.
The church should be the one place where the broken, the addicted, the hurting, the doubting, and the lost can walk through the doors knowing they’ll be loved enough to hear the truth—not condemned before they ever hear it.
If Jesus welcomed tax collectors, prostitutes, lepers, and sinners, who are we to turn our noses up at anyone?
**So here’s my question:**
**Have we become so focused on looking righteous that we’ve forgotten what it means to love like Christ?**
I’d genuinely like to hear your thoughts. Let’s keep the conversation respectful, but let’s also be honest. Some of the greatest barriers to people finding Jesus aren’t outside the church—they’re sitting inside it.
