Greg Ramar is a Campbell California based photographer established professionally in the industry during an enlistment as a Military Photographer in the United States Navy. Upon honorable di
scharged from active military service during the first Gulf War he began forging a path in Live Concert photography. Early on he was most notable for establishing himself as the "unofficial-official" house photographer for the live music venue [Cactus Club] located in San Jose California. During this time Greg photographed more than 300 local, emerging and established artists. Bill and enrolled in school studying Television Production at Mt. Upon graduation from that institution he returned home to Campbell California and enrolled at San Jose State University as a junior studying Radio/Television/Film. Graduating two years later from SJSU with a Bachelors degree [Cum Laude] in Film, Greg became only the second student in SJSU's history to win an Emmy Award. "Egress" was written, produced and directed by Greg - it won in the music category. Over the next few years he produced television on Comcast Cable and for the CreaTV Channel garnering a 2009 W.A.V.E. award for producing "Project: Placebo" a local feature and music video program. http://www.youtube.com/user/ProjectPlacebo?feature=chclk
After a 2 year hiatus from video production, in 2011 Greg returned to his roots in photography and purchased a used Nikon D300 on Ebay. Quickly returning to form from his days with negative & positive film shooting, he began covering local bands in venues in his native Bay Area. Now Greg is freelancing throughout the country contributing to multiple print and online media outlets. In 2014 Greg added photojournalism to his resume as a News, Arts & Entertainment photographer for the Silicon Valley's weekly newspaper, the METRO. See his work here:
