Dear Friends, Supporters, and Members of the Campbell Community,
We are writing to share an update on the work of the Friends of the Heritage Theatre (FOTH), and to reconnect with the many people who have helped sustain and strengthen this remarkable cultural institution over the years.
For those who have been part of this journey, you know that the Heritage Theatre is more than a building. Since its restoration and reopening in 2004, it has served as a cultural anchor for Campbell and the surrounding region—hosting performances, bringing people together, and preserving an important piece of our shared history.
Over the last few years, FOTH has continued its longstanding commitment to supporting and enhancing the theatre through a range of initiatives, including:
Investing in critical infrastructure, including a $35,000 contribution toward a new, state-of-the-art sound system to enhance the experience for performers and audiences alike
Expanding outreach and community engagement by hosting behind-the-scenes tours of the theatre for local Girl Scout troops, offering young people a deeper look into the world of live theatre
Modernizing our digital presence through a revamp of the Friends’ webpage to better communicate our goals and connect with the community
Maintaining a robust concessions program, which remains our core fundraising engine and a visible, hands-on way for volunteers to support the theatre
At the same time, we have been focused on building something new—something that reflects not only the theatre’s history, but its future.
In partnership with the Campbell Union School District, FOTH launched an initiative to bring local youth theatre productions onto the Heritage Theatre stage for the first time. In years past, these students performed in a small venue of limited technical and seating capacity. This program provides middle school students the opportunity to perform in a professional venue, while also establishing a scholarship fund to ensure that financial barriers do not prevent participation.
This work was recently highlighted in the San Jose Mercury News, which recognized FOTH’s support of the March 2026 production of Disney’s Alice in Wonderland, Jr., featuring students from Monroe Middle School and Campbell School of Innovation. As noted in the article, this initiative reflects our goal to give young performers meaningful access to a venue that has long been central to the community’s cultural life.
We believe this program represents an important evolution of FOTH’s role—from preserving a historic space to actively investing in the next generation of artists, audiences, and community members.
Behind the scenes, FOTH continues to operate as a fully volunteer-driven organization. From organizing concession sales at theatre events to managing fundraising and partnerships, our work is made possible by the time, energy, and commitment of dedicated board members and community volunteers. In 2024–2025 alone, these efforts helped generate more than $16,000 in support of the theatre and its programs.
As we look ahead, we see real opportunity to expand this work—particularly our youth theatre partnerships and scholarship program. Doing so will require not only financial support, but also the continued involvement of community members who care about the future of the arts in Campbell.
