This is a letter I wrote to the Santa Clara County Supervisors in regards to the closing of the Timpany Center. Please show your support for keeping this wonderful one of a kind place available for the many people that need it.
Thanks, Jeff
Dear County Supervisors,
I have heard that the Timpany Center will be closing at the end of December. This is horrible news to me and so many people in need of this facility. It is the only one of its kind and provides much needed relief to disabled people like myself.
The pool itself is perfect in so many ways. It is large enough to offer the needed space for so many functions. The aqua therapy programs are wonderful in recovery from injury and surgeries. I have benefitted greatly after six joint replacements and two double spinal fusions as well as ongoing back and leg issues brought on by chronic degenerative inflammatory disease.
I didn't know anybody when I started using the pool. That quickly changed. The staff is kind and the people that go there are incredible. The camaraderies that were formed there over the years are priceless. I gained strength from so many people that were attending to their own recoveries. I had never seen anything like it in my life. I haven't since.
You truly have a gem of a place. There is a wealth of knowledge and compassion that is unprecedented. Doctors, nurses, professors, students, kids, grandmothers and grandfathers and so many more. If you had a loved one in need of this service you would be pleased to enlighten them to this oasis of pain relief. We are all thankful and proud to be a part of this remarkable program. Please don't allow this one of a kind wonderful home of recovery to be shut down. I plead with you to follow the hearts and prayers of so many. Not just those in need but their families too.
Being disabled is hard enough in itself without eliminating our saving grace. I lived very close to the Timpany Center for many years and went from using a walker to using a cane. I have regained so much range of motion in my joints that were replaced (6 and counting). Others I met were fighting cancer and other illnesses and this is/was their relief. It is a meeting place to recover as well as give and receive love and friendship. You can't imagine just how much this place means to us. We are like a family here and don't want it broken up and dissolved. We all go there to heal and help each other heal.
Please show compassion for us and keep this magnificent place going so it can help others achieve good health and be an example of what other communities could do too! Please don't let this much needed place go! Long live the Timpany Center and the good people associated with it.
Sincerely,
Jeffrey J. Francois
