A Special Farewell to our Graduating Senior Joelle Wong π
Joelle has distinguished herself as an exemplary leader and role model within our studio community. Through her unwavering dedication, discipline, and character, she has set a standard for others to follow. Watching Joelle develop not only as a dancer, but from a shy little girl into a confident and mature young woman, has been a joy and a privilege.
Joelleβs first ballet class was with me, in September 2013, when she was just five years old. Her first performance was Thumbelina, where she played one of her favorite roles: a ladybug. This year, she takes on another favorite role in our production of The Four Seasons, dancing the lead as Mother Nature. This role has challenged her both artistically and technically; itβs been a thrill to coach her and witness her growth throughout the rehearsal process. Over the years, Joelle has performed many other memorable roles, including the Lilac Fairy in Sleeping Beauty, the Winter Fairy in A Winter Wonderland, the Butterfly Queen in Thumbelina, and the Mad Hatter in Alice in Wonderland.
While maintaining the rigorous training of a pre-professional dancer, Joelle also completed a year of teacher training directly with me. She has since become a valued member of our teaching staff, sharing her love of dance with our youngest students. Outside the studio, Joelle enjoys competitive games like Killball and Kajabi, and she volunteers her time in her church band playing keys, guitar, and bass.
Joelle will be graduating with an impressive 4.71 GPA. She has decided to attend M.I.T. in the fall. Having this incredible young woman in my life for so many years has truly been an honor. As she prepares to take her final bow on this stage, I am filled with pride for all she has accomplished and excitement for what lies ahead. I am so grateful for the time we've shared. Please join me in sending Joelle off with love, pride, and heartfelt best wishes for her journey ahead.
