ope that the IDEA Performing Arts Center will serve as an exhibition, arts education and performance space where talented and diverse artists can inspire, strengthen, support, unite and enlighten the community through their performances and exhibitions and serve as a home for many emerging, established as well as struggling artist in Camden and throughout the region.

Event starts Thursday, June 18th at 7PM -- IDEA Center for the Arts (217 Market St, Camden, NJ)
Event Flow:
* 7:00PM - Doors
* 7:10PM - Opening Performance by Aleigha Johnson
* 7:30-9:00PM - Screening and Discussion

Again, all screenings are free, open to the public, and family-friendly.

One of the films that will be shown is “THE BLACK BELT” Directed byMargaret Brown. In 2015, the state of Alabama closed 31 DMVs across the state. Many of these closures occurred in the Black Belt, a predominantly African-American region, directly impacting voter enfranchisement in a state that requires photo IDs at the polls. “Songs Of Black Folks”, directed Haley Watson and Justin Emeka, is one of the films that will be shown this Thursday, June 18th at “Street Movies! Undercover” presented by Scribe Video Center and IDEA Center for the Arts - 217 Market Street. It’s a free event to celebrate Juneteenth with shorts on Black American music, civil rights, and finding love at the end of the world. One of the films that will be shown is “Crooked Lines!” An amazing short documentary about the impact of redrawing voting maps and how it can adversely affect communities of color. In today’s society, this is a powerful reminder about the importance of protecting a citizen’s vote, and a community’s voting power.
