TONI Reads TONI: Morrison, Poetry, & Community Come Alive

Emmy award-winning filmmaker Tonia Magras, storyteller Tony Toledo, poet (and event organizer) Toni Bee, and other artists and intellectuals named Toni and Tony, Anthony and Antonia will read selections from Toni Morrison’s Jazz, Beloved, and God Help the Child.

Want to sell your art at Cambridge Arts annual Winter Art Market? It will be held on Saturday, Dec. 12, and Sunday, Dec. 13, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the 650 East Kendall St. area, in the heart of Kendall Square’s Canal District. There is no artist fee to participate.

Participation will be determined through a curatorial review process designed to ensure a broad diversity of artwork and products throughout the market. Cambridge Arts and our hosting partner BioMed Realty will work together to thoughtfully place artists throughout the market and limit an over-concentration of similar styles or products.

This opportunity is open to artists living or working in Cambridge. Artwork and products must be original, high-quality, one-of-a-kind, and/or handmade.

Cambridge Arts Winter Art Market will be part of BioMed Realty's 2026 Canal District Kendall Winter Market, featuring free community skating, professional skate shows, face painting, live jazz, and craft workshops including wreath making.

See How Playground Structures Are Hand-Crafted By Cambridge Artist Mitch Ryerson

“Joyful Anarchy: Mitch Ryerson – Playgrounds” is on view at Cambridge Arts’ Gallery 344, 344 Broadway, Cambridge, from Sept. 21 to Dec. 31, 2026. Visiting the gallery and all gallery events are always free and open to all.

For decades, Ryerson has shaped the way Cambridge plays—from the logs, ladders and hull-like climbing structure at Alberico Park to the ship in Cambridge Common’s Kemp Playground to the “Sensory Hilltop” at the Louis A. DePasquale Universal Design Playground at Danehy Park, which is part of the Cambridge public art collection. He’s also crafted a timber climbing structure for Boston’s Charles River Esplanade Playspace, a bench that can be played like a marimba for Perkins School for the Blind in Watertown, and benches for Boston’s Forest Hills Cemetery. And he turned the tall stump of a fallen silver maple on Cambridge’s Hurlbut Street into a beloved Winnie-the-Pooh house (it was removed in 2017 after a two-decade run).
