Black Lives Matter in Groove City.....proud of our heritage here and proud of the recently completed "Black Lives Matter" mural on our main drag downtown.....we hope to have live music back in 2021!

Groove City is a name given to the nearby Pine Street neighborhood. A historic Black community, the Pine Street area was bustling with Black-owned businesses in the early and mid-1900s. As a stop on the Chitlin' Circuit, it drew musicians such as Ella Fitzgerald, Ray Charles, Count Basie, and others.

Here's the latest on postponed Groove City Studio Live Music Events:

We have cancelled the March 20 Albert Castiglia concert and the April 3 Vintage #18 Concert.

For all of you who have purchased tickets, Groove City Studio will either refund your purchase in its entirety or hold your purchase for use at a future concert of similar value or the rescheduled Albert Castigila or Vintage #18 concert. We are asking everyone who has purchased tickets to send a written request that clearly explains what you wish to be done with the tickets to: [email protected]

GCS will respond individually to every request so that you have a clear understanding of what will happen with your tickets.

As the virus progresses and the government and health officials take necessary actions, we will continue to update Facebook and the the website. Currently the Moonlight Blues concert for later in April has not been cancelled. We are taking a wait and see attitude.

We will get through this! Thank you for your patience and remember, we're all in this together ☮️💙🎶

Groove City Coronavirus update:

Groove City Music Nights has been following the coronavirus spread and is in contact with the managers and in some cases the musicians themselves. We are taking this one show at a time. The next concert is the Albert Castiglia concert on Friday 20 March. At this time the musician and manager are still playing the smaller venues like GCS and as of this time the artist still plans to perform on Friday night at GCS. We will provide a concert update Monday evening. The state of Maryland has banned gatherings of over 250 people and recommends social distancing.

Any person who has purchased tickets for the Albert Castiglia concert and has concerns regarding the concert can obtain a refund of their ticket. We also ask that If you have the sniffles or a mild cold or if you are in any way immuno-compromised, please stay home, we will refund your ticket. Contact us through either Facebook or the website. Make sure that we have your name, email address and number of tickets purchased. We will respond to your email address within two days and credit your account.

As the concert season progresses we will be following state and federal guidelines and issuing updates on each concert as the date nears. Thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter and hopefully the virus will run its course and society can get back to normal.

Two weeks from tonight! Come on out for a night of sweet soul and down in the basement blues...all the way from Memphis....John Nemeth and his Blue Dreamers!

This is a "Give Back to the Community" event.....proceeds helping to tackle the feral cat population in Dorchester County. Hope to see you there!!

We have been graciously been nominated to be the first recipient for Groove Studio's "Give Back to the Community" event! Come out and watch some of the best blues you've ever heard right here in Cambridge. John Nemeth and The Blue Dreamers will be here on February 21st from 7-9 p.m. Doors open at 6:30 at the studio. Tickets are $20 each and there is a cash wine/beer bar. Part of the proceeds will go to help spay/neuter cats of Dorchester County at a reduced fee. Hope to see you there!

John Nemeth and his crazy cool band, The Blue Dreamers will be here with us on Friday February 21....tickets are selling fast, don't wait or it'll be too late!!

I have an amazing tour to announce. I can't wait to perform my new show for you. The Blue Dreamers and I will be doing many of your long time favorites and quite a few new songs. We have been busy writing, arranging and recording the last few months and I love what we are doing. I know you will too. Please make room for us on your calendars and come let the good times roll!
